Neutral Feedback Due to eBay International Shipping Cost
Hello Community,
I receieved a neutral feedback rating with a complaint about the high cost of shipping from the US to the UK - the listing offered international shipping via eBay's international shipping hub. The cost to ship the item via USPS Ground Advantage was ~$10 and that's what I see was charged to the buyer. Buyer's comment: "Postage was so expensive, it wasn’t clear enough when paying, I was so shocked when submitted payment"; reflects poorly on me as the seller but also seems to be more of a comment on the eBay check out process and international shipping program cost. Is there a means to appeal such comments for removal? And also wondering, what the buyer actually did pay for shipping since it must be more than the $10 I paid.

·5 months agoI see Ebay international shipping as nothing but an Ebay scam. DHL are rip off artists. On a recent purchase DHL hounded me for 5 days to pay 50 dollars US for duty on a purchase. They held the item for 5 days then finally released it. After it sat in ebays wharehouse for 5 days. Canada post charged me 21 dollara Canadian for duty. Yeh its a rip off.

·10 months agoGo to your Orders Page
Click on Print Packaging Slip and More
Then select either Packing Slip or Order Receipt.
You will see the total they paid for shipping.
Deduct what you were paid for shipping and that is the amount eBay charged them to send the package from eBay's facility to buyers location.
Information on the page should look something like this.
After a while eBay will delete this information from you view. I believe they allow it to be visible for 90 days.

OP10 months agoOh, thanks. I can see from this that eBay collected $47.71 + $12.40 VAT from the buyer, versus the $10 shown on order details for shipping to the EIS hub. Very useful to know.

·10 months agoThat is completely unfair, A buyer sees the shipping cost prior to purchase & then pays for it & then turns around & complains about it, How can they complain about something they agreed to??, Just wrong.

·10 months agoYou can contact the buyer to make a revision or try contacting eBay for a feedback removal.
You can also respond to it and use it as an opportunity to make clear that international shipping, when using ebay's international shipping program, is between ebay and the buyers and for buyers to always review those charges before making purchase

·10 months ago'contact the buyer'...I wouldn't only because the tea bags in it expired in March.
stefanaub
OP10 months agoThat was noted in the listing description and illustrated in the photos as well.

·10 months agoIf the buyer even noticed the ceramic set came with tea bags, I highly doubt a Brit would find a few flakes of plain black tea an important part of the purchase.
Here in the States there is always a market for certain 'retired' coffee tumbler designs by Starbucks, especially Christmas editions, and being New In Box is especially desirable. If they're years-old, it's just understood that the little packet of coffee included isn't a relevant factor. Of course the seller should still mention it being expired in the listing.

·10 months agoObviously the seller did not pay attention to the shipping costs. Which have skyrocketed thanks to the USPS. I would nicely respond to the feedback that the shipping was stated in the listing and you are sorry they didn’t see that.
I just shipped a pair of ladies pants to Georgia …I charged $7 which normally covers the cost..it was $9.28. I always leave the amount I paid on the label as many people are clueless as to what it costs now days.

I believe EIS (which you use) allows removal of feedback related to shipping:

I think that's includes the cost since buyers see in an presumably are okay with it if they subsequently complete payment!

OP10 months agoThanks. This seems to be the best answer to this topic. What I'm not sure of is how to best contact eBay to request protection under EIS.

OP10 months agoUpdate from eBay:
Our decision
After carefully reviewing the feedback, we didn't find any violations of our policies and guidelines.
For this reason, the feedback was not removed. Just so you know, this feedback will not impact your seller performance level.
This is what I wrote in my request. Apparently there is no Seller protection for EIS issues:

It s my understanding that seller participants in EIS are protected from feedback related to eBay s international shipping program. Can this be removed please?

·10 months agoI agree. That should be removed. I suspect the decision was made by "AI" and since EIS wasn't specifically called out it made the wrong decision.
@stefanaub You should try contacting eBay through one of the social media reps to try and appeal.

·10 months agoThat sucks!
A while ago I requested Feedback removal from a eBay International Shipment.
I quoted their policy to them that reads
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/ebay-international-shipping-program?id=5348&st=3&pos=1&query=eBay%20International%20Shipping%20program&intent=international%20&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1704
eBay International Shipping program

I then told them I would like it removed based of their policy and it was removed.
Their response
I wonder if there is a new policy or if someone did not understand the policy. Were you offered the ability t appeal the decision?

OP10 months agoContinued: so contacted ebay and asked for manual review. Went to contact us page, selected topic, and kept typing "customer service" until offered an option for a callback. Unfortunately, none of the automated prompts were helpful. Did get a callback within 2 minutes and the agent is submitting the case for manual review in the next 24-72 hours. Stay tuned.

OP10 months agoClosure: after manual review, the feedback was removed in my favor.
