Negative review
I had a customer leave a negative review when I reached out to them to find out more the customer informed me if I would give them the item and their money back they would change their review. Is this not extortion? What can I do because I have one negative review out of over a hundred and it is from this individual. I told him that it was not going to happen that I would keep the negative review and never do business with them again.

·2 years agoSo why are you making a post about it now ???
calou-3838
OP2 years agoBecause it's bothered me and I just found out there is a way to talk about it with other sellers. I am brand new at this why does it bother you? Are you someone who does this kind of thing to new sellers are something? I am utilizing my resources and researching it to find out if it is a regular occurrence. I can post anything I want whenever I get ready. You don't have to respond if your going to be rude about it. I have the right to ask or post anything I want to whenever I get ready. What makes it your business? If you can't give positive information keep yourself out of this discussion. Be professional or butt out.

Just because someone doesn't tell you what you were hoping to hear doesn't mean that they're rude. Presumably, you came here for helpful and accurate advice and possibly, constructive criticism.
We aren't here to stroke you, empathize you if it's not warranted or to be your friend. But you WILL get good advice from the regulars even when it's not what you'd been hoping to hear.
Even buyers and sellers who've been here for years can always learn something new or might be mistaken about something. Having an error pointed out isn't "non-professional."
And just as you certainly can come and post what you want, you don't have the right to tell others that they can't respond to you.

OP2 years agoThey were talking about a washing machine. I posted about negative reviews on cameras.
calou-3838
OP2 years agoI don't know if I am doing this correctly but I'm talking about a camera not a washing machine. I sell vintage cameras. I don't know anything about a washing machine part or anything about anything to do with Facebook or anything else you have me confused with someone else.

·2 years agoI'm often confused but not in this case. I wrote that reply to another person in the thread whose was talking about a washing machine part.

Detailed item information is not available for the following items because the feedback is over 90 days old.

·2 years agoWhen you reached out to the buyers, what exactly did you say to him? Did you offer the buyer a return for refund? Or did you ask him in an open-ended way what you could do to resolve the negative review?

You need to take care of this issue sooner rather than later. If the feedback gets too old, Ebay won't be able to help you. So contact Ebay ASAP and make sure you ask them to look at the messages you received from the buyer. Don't delay or it may be too late to do anything.
On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

·2 years agoI just went through this scenario. Tried every avenue to get it rectified and ebay did absolutely nothing. Buyer claimed Item "arrived damaged in the mail" and was unusable and worthless. Then they wanted to keep the item and get $50 back. I asked for better pics (because I planned to make an insurance claim) they just kept sending the same pic (horrible) that showed absolutely nothing.
I checked the last feedback they left a seller and they did the same thing to another seller but got the partial but left a neutral. Needless to say I denied their second request to keep the item and get their money back. I simply requested they need to return it for a refund and they left me a negative. The item they admitted to now using as they "made it work". They then said I threatened and attacked them. Ebay refused to remove it. I tried email, facebook, phone. They don't care.
I was told since the buyer did not specify in the feedback comment itself about feedback extortion it was not removable. I guess you can throw around accusations of being threatened and attacked in feedback though.
Simply block, report them, and keep a note of their name and address in case they try creating another account to purchase more of your items in the future. Sorry this happened to you, some people just suck.

·2 years agoI am arguably the biggest, most rabid, rippin' hellcats partial refund scammer hater in the joint, but I have 2 beefs with your post. Maybe I'm wrong about either/both, in fact I hope I am.
Firstly, I don't believe you were told that the buyer has to make the feedback extortion threats IN the feedback in order for it to count as such, and warrant a removal. I think you must have misunderstood what you were told, that in fact they told you the buyer's message(s) to you were not clear extortion threats. You mentioned email and Facebook contacts about this removal request, and you said this "just" happened, so it should be easy to find those responses from eBay again. If they really said the threat has to be spelled out in the public feedback, let's see the screenshots.
Secondly, the reason I don't think the buyer even threatened feedback extortion in their messages is because I read their comments. They started out by saying they had a good experience with you before, and then their description of their disappointment with this purchase sounds sincere to me. Maybe that one picture isn't enough to convince you the item arrived damaged but maybe it was hard to photograph after it was already installed in their washing machine.
And that leads to the other reason I'm going against my usual view on this matter. -I have taken apart a washing machine to fix it. I know that you really can't tell if the repair/replacement is going to work unless you fully do it and test it out, so that's a lot of work. Add to that the size of this thing, and how you apparently didn't pack it very well. -So to return it, they would have to go through the whole disassembly process and then try to pack this big thing, either with the packing materials you used, or purchase their own. All that ...... just to get back to where they started, shopping for this part all over again, at least a couple weeks after their initial purchase.
I have given very few partial refunds here, but this seems like one where I would do it. If they said they could make the item work, I would consider that work they shouldn't have had to do (or they could have bought one with STATED damage, for cheaper). -Again, I could be wrong. Maybe this buyer was a lot more rude or suspicious in their messages than they sound in their feedback. But again, you could prove that with screenshots.

·2 years agoThis is a very common scam.
I get more of these on the other e site because negative reviews count against you and buyers know it.

·2 years agoTo me, Amazon's negative feedback is the harshest as they never go away and are almost always in the seller's stats. Not even 1 in 10 buyers leave FB on that site, so the negatives can really sink a sellers percentage. It can remain that way for years because so few buyers leave feedback to dilute the effects of the negative.

·2 years agoAmazon seems altogether a tougher site to sell on.
I used to leave FB back in the mid-90s when it was still Earth's Biggest Bookstore and basically down the street from me, but really haven't much since, so I'm guilty of the same thing (I buy commodities, downloads and cheap Chinese chit and it just doesn't seem necessary, though I do leave some product and book reviews).
But the "other E" - eBid? Ecrater? Etsy?

·2 years agoIt is easier in some ways and harder in others. Sellers here thing Ebay has too much control. OMG AMZ is crazy. The really hurt me financially last year. I had a product that I likely sold around 10-15K worth per year, maybe even a little more. I was the only seller that sold it and life was good. Then one day I realized I had not had any sales on this product for about a week, so I went to take a peek at the listing.
A brand new seller was on the scene. For whatever reason AMZ had they were featuring this new seller and burying me. I had 1,000's of successful transactions for this product. Boy if this hasn't hurt!

·2 years agoIt's that capitalism that we're all supposed to worship, until it goes bad. Amazon has no loyalty to anyone or anything but its shareholders. I'm sorry these things happen.
gurlcat
·2 years agoI know it's just semantics to differentiate capitalism from corporatism, but I think there's a huge difference, and without getting specifically political, we can cite the precise point in history when these two 'ism's' diverged astronomically. I don't know which aspect of this perverse modern version bugs me the most. Lately it's the freedom to be completely opaque. -Like for instance, the fact that eBay gets to be the entity both offering us promotion AND assessing whether that promotion is what fetched us a sale ... and they don't have to prove it to us (or the government, or anybody) whether the assessment is true or how they do it. When I lowered all my promotion rates, I suddenly started having a lot more sales "via promotion" ... as if to balance it out and keep getting the same amount of fees from me per month or whatever. But I can't prove it, or even receive proof to the contrary. Transparent as mud, this enormous profit-maker they created.

Are you able to respond to the feedback? If so, I'd write something like:
"The item I sent the buyer was in pristine condition. Buyer is likely confusing me with another eBay seller from whom he purchased."
Meantime report him and block him.

·2 years agoYou wonder why they would want the item if they left a bad review. Apparently the item is defective according to them. Yes extortion and a scammer...don't let them scam you. Report them.
I had a similar situation, comic book buyer, gave me precise instructions as how to mail, I did what they asked and he still complained that the comic was not wrapped correctly. I asked for pictures and the outer cardboard was slightly crushed , not the comic. He wanted me to do a partial refund. I refused and told him to send the comic back with my prepaid label and I would do a full refund. No he just wanted a cheaper price. Never heard from him again. It is a game they play.
