Negative Feedback
eBays policy on negative feedback I sold a item to a buyer was accurate as possible in the description item was completely serviced by a professional company prior to listing it I even sent documentation as proof of service, but buyer did not ask any questions about the item made the purchase, but after he received the item he made claims in negative feedback, did not even attempt to contact me about any issues that the item was not functioning properly and had issues which was not possible having gone though a complete service.
I made a request to have that negative feedback removed but eBay told me it didn't violate their policy so how is that fair for a seller that a buyer can without attempting to contact the buyer about issues purchase a item not ask questions but still leave negative feedback and not allow a seller a chance ?
If I bought a item and it was not as functioning I would be contacting the seller immediately to resolve the issue, this buyer did not would rather not contact me and kept what he says a item that doesn't work which I don't believe was possible unless was damaged in shipping but no claim of that was made either.
am i wrong ?

OP3 years agoThis whole thing is really making me not want to sell anything through eBay or set a decision for no shipping overseas to easy to get burned.

I know there was no contact before feed back, but did this buyer open a "return request"?
From you other thread yesterday on this same issue it does not appear that they did.
If you were to contact the buyer letting them know that you would like to resolve the situation with the camera.................. then possibly after that was done the buyer might consider revising the feedback. If you should choose that path make no mention of a feed back revision until the situation is handled.
Buyer may wish to return the item which, in the long run, would cost you (full refund, and shipping cost both ways) more than the negative feed back.

Too late for me to edit.
You are dealing with a rather inexperienced buyer (5 feed back). As an aside. I do not suspect this to be a "scammer". A scammer would not even bother with feedback. They would just get a refund without "outting" themselves with feed back left, leaving a trail.

OP3 years agoNo contact before or after the transaction and no return request was sent so was surprised the person didn’t if I bought a non working item I would contact the seller right away this buyer did not.

·3 years agoIt's a two edged sword. The buyer is reporting his experience about the transaction.
You're right, though (my opinion)... if the buyer never contacted you nor opened a return request, a negative is unfair. BUT in the Feedback Reply, I would have indicated that the "buyer had an opportunity to return for a full refund, but never heard from them." The reply you left sounds understandably defensive.
It's like the old adage "The customer is always right... even when he's wrong". I'm sure what you sold was in 100% working order, but if the buyer isn't happy, he'll vent somehow

OP3 years agoI think policy needs to change unless buyer contacts the seller of any issues they should not be allowed to leave any negative feedback.

·3 years agoI am not sure that would help. I contact the OP and say the item is not as described. The OP says send it back. I send it back but still unhappy and leave a negative. Trust me, this is just a scenario, I have only left a negative 3 times in 24 years. A little off topic, but what burns me is you sell 100 items but only receive 30 feedbacks. Ebay counts that negative as 1 in 30 and your % drops like a rock. The way I see it you only had one unhappy customer out of 100, not out of 30.

OP3 years agoYes but you contacted them first before the feedback this buyer didn’t attempt to contact me at all.

·3 years agoBuyers are asked to wait 7 days before leaving negative or neutral feedback for sellers with TRS status. That policy has already been in place for a while. Feedback is the buyer's opinion of the transaction. Your buyer left theirs.

OP3 years agoYes but should the buyer be able to leave negative feedback if they don’t contact the seller and let the seller attempt to resolve the issue before feedback is left ?

·3 years agoIt would be nice, but it is ever going to happen.
Some buyers get poor (hostile/vulgar/abusive/dismissive) seller responses when contacted.
eBay will not require buyers to be subjected to such.

·3 years agoContacting the seller about any issue would be the right thing to do.
You're going to learn as a seller that buyers don't always do the right thing.
Your response to that feedback isn't terrible but a simple
"Sorry you are unhappy with the item. You may return it at my expense for a full refund."
might have been better.
Remember future potential buyers will be reading it.

OP3 years agoUnfortunately the buyer never contacted me there was a issue so I was not aware or given the opportunity to resolve any issue if there was any.
i only found out when I noticed my seller rating had dipped.
this buyer claimed it wasn’t working then why wouldn’t they contact me the seller first instead of keeping the item that they claim wasn’t working if I made a purchase and found it not working I’d be contacting the seller right away.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t instead of just leaving negative feedback.
I sent the buyer a request to change their feedback that I would of worked to resolve any issue they had but so far have had no response.
