Need help with Ebay International shipping, package stuck at hub since Aug 14 -what to tell buyer | Selling

Hello, An item I sold to a buyer in Germany, thru Ebay;s International shipping, has been stuck at Illinois hub since August 14th. The tracking says, "Arrived at our hub. Your item will be verified for International shipment to the buyer" and the last info says. "Running behind, original estimate was Mon Aug 19 - Sun Sept 1 (carrier has not provided updated delivery date". Now the buyer is asking me to find out what is going on. So who am I supposed to contact about this? Is someone on ebay really going to be able to help with this since it is their International carrier that is handling this? The package has just been sitting in Illinois for almost 3 weeks. Not sure what to tell buyer before she opens up item not received case
