Need Advice on a Return. Which I Know is False.
Hi Guys,
Hope everyone is well. Been selling on here for a while and came across an issue I need advice on.
We sold an item which we documented with date and time stamped photos and is serialized. Customer received item and said it arrived damaged. I then asked him for photos (all this was done through Ebay messenger), and he provided photos of a completely different package than what we sent. We asked for a photo of the item that we sold and shipped him showing the serial #. Which (I am not sure why), he sent to me. Which shows the exact figure that we sent him. Then, a few more pictures of a completely different / damaged figure, which we did not sell him. Guy is trying to swap it out on my dime. Contacted Ebay CS through FaceBook. They were ineffective. Told me to accept the return, pay for the label and when we get it back, if it's different, to contact them and then they will see what they can do. Even though I have all of the proof of what we sent and the item he is trying to send back is a different item. Do I have any other recourse here? Thank you for your time in reading this and any advice you can give me.
Thanks,
Mike

·7 months agoThis right here is a risk of selling stuff online. We don't have all the facts but just your side but unfortunately you will come across buyers who will do a switch. You will have to accept the return and eat the cost. Ebay forces you to accept it if the buyer is requesting it within 30 days. If this were a damaged to your actual item you shipped you would have to go through insurance. Depending on value of item and if you paid extra for insurance.

You don't have any recourse.
You ned to accept the return.
More bad news.
Even if the buyer sends you back a box of rocks, you still don't have any recourse.
Sorry, but that's just the way it is.
Welcome to the world of online selling.

·7 months agoNot much you can do but accept the return, provide a shipping label and refund when something is returned.
Being a TRS, if you accepted 30 day returns, you could probably deduct some from the refund if they sent back a different item.

·7 months agoYou have no recourse.
You cannot win the fight if the buyer returns a different item.
You can't prove you are right so eBay sides with the buyer.
Fighting it will only get you a defect on your account, you will lose any fees you paid and the buyer will still end up with a refund that you pay for.
(In some cases, eBay may give you a one time courtesy credit, but don't count on it.)

OP7 months agoI figured as much. Let's see what happens when I get it back. Ebay does say there is a way to dispute the return. We shall See. Thank You (And Everyone Else for the Advice).
