My video was removed from my listing - no reason given other than it violated ebay's policy
I decided to add a video to a listing I was creating for an amateur radio transmitter. The video was 1 minute and 27 seconds in length and 82mb in size. I created it using my iphone. I added the video to my listing, waited a day, and then went back into the listing to post it. I saw a call-out bubble that said the video was removed because it "violated an ebay policy."
No other details were given.
I contacted ebay's customer service and spent an hour with three different CSRs in an attempt to have them tell me the specific policy I violated.
I never did learn what specific policy I violated.
Here's what I was told:
- I was told that a complaint was lodged against me by a competitor regarding the video. That's a challenge to believe because the listing hadn't been posted yet.
- I was told that ebay believed the item was counterfeit. Again, hard to believe concerning a 50-year old amateur radio transmitter.
- I was told that the video was removed by "back-end specialists" who were especially trained on videos and that I must have violated one ebay's policies. When I asked if I could chat with the team, the CSR said that was impossible.
- I was told that I needed to review the list of ebay's requirements for videos and watch the instructional videos because there were "a ton of them."
From reading other messages in the community, it appears that the removal of videos is pretty common.

·2 years agoI suspect eBay's bots flagged some key words and tied it to things like pirate radio or CB linear amp.
And no, there is no one who knows a thing you can speak with about it.

·2 years agoWelcome to the new world order. Digital slaves don't deserve being told what rule they broke. Youtube is doing this to channels. eBay is doing it here. I have noticed for a good while now that tech support is clueless, lazy (not just on eBay), and being slowly replaced by robots. Brace yourself.
And the time involved in trying to find answers is often not worth it.
