My sales have flatlined, what's going on with the site!
I went from $100 a day to literally zero for the last week. It seems to me when ebay changed the international shipping policy everything went dark. I promote, sell similar, send offers and nothing. I've seen videos where people have talked to a US ebay staffer and magically their stores get fixed. Any suggestions?

·3 years agoThese are the results of all the well thought out changes ebay has made. Your items are probably suppressed to make room for promoted items.

·3 years agoI have not sold a single item for now over three weeks. I continue to add but I'm growing quite hopeless.

·3 years agoI've been posting recently about all the things I was doing to get sales up. They were successful, but I always included the caveat that what works today could stop working tomorrow. I'm always waiting for the knife in the back. It came late last week. Sales down 50% from the previous week and still dropping. Usually what I do at this point is to go through and pare down all the listings that have no views in the last 30 days and start adding them slowly back in using sell similar. Whether its that or something else that does it, who knows.

·3 years agoWould you agree with the statement that we as consumers and as collectors should continue spending even during an economic crisis, the hard times and the inflation if we want to avoid our own jobs and businesses affected in the long run?
This summer's sales drop is unprecedented and is caused by all or some of the following factors: COVID-19, East Slavic War of 2014-2023, inflation, sudden increase of grocery prices, cost of living crisis, fake terrorism, intentional damage and destruction of world economy by a variety of "influential groups".

·3 years agoCan you post screenshots of your sales and traffic? I think we would all really like to see $0 for the past 7 days then maybe we can better help. Sales will always fluctuate no matter what. The odds of every selling/generating the EXACT same amount of revenue per day is extremely small. Doesn't matter if it's the biggest companies in the world or your small business down the street. Stop worrying about hour to hour or day to day or even week to week sales. Stay consistent, list good items with high sell thru rates at good prices that people want.

·3 years agoIt has always been an up and down ride when it comes to sales. This was one of my better weeks in awhile. I sold 8 items. All of those were sold on an auction format, 7 have been paid for and shipped. NONE of them were promoted listings. Two of the items were sold internationally. All items were under $100 in price and not in a highly saturated category.
It's just a hit and miss market at the moment with a lot of factors impacting not only eBay sales but other ecommerce sites and B&M stores as well.

·3 years agoYou sold 30 items in May and 13 so far in June. (Today is the 19th).
How does that number compare with June 2022, June 2019, June 2018?
We ignore 2020 and2021, because of the pandemic surge in all online sales. Those are outliers.
I've seen videos where people have talked to a US ebay staffer and magically their stores get fixed.
But are they showing the numbers in those videos or do they just feel they have been been stroked and feel seen?
I went from $100 a day to literally zero
In your case, it doesn't look like your numbers are off, just the values.
You could try closing all the low value listings so all your sales are automatically ~$100 or more.

·3 years agoIf you track your sales day by day or even week by week, you'll drive yourself crazy. Even corporate headquarters for popular brick and mortars can't accurately predict footfall for staffing and stocking purposes.
Take a longer view - like at least a month at a time.
Also, be aware, what sold six months ago may not sell now, particularly in areas where interesting is falling off rather rapidly anyway (many collectibles and certain styles of clothing and shoes, for instance). I've never been able to just rest and sell what I've always sold.

·3 years ago115 of your 150 items are trading cards. I have 13,000 trading cards listed. You know how many sell per day? About 10. If I had 150 listed that would be one sale every 9 days.
Trading cards are slow sell overall and the market on them is nuts, they tend to all tank together and all rally together. Really, doesn't even seem to matter what type, sports, magic, garbage pail kids, pokemon, will all go nuts at the same time and then all go dark at the same time. Since they are largely speculative investments driven by "extra money" they are very keyed to the overall economy.

Since you have a lot of "best offer" listings, be advised that eBay is FORCING more and more buyer IDs into the requirement for providing a payment source PRIOR to making an offer. Some just back out and don't bother. This feature also no longer allows a buyer to make offers on more of your listings to combine items for one shipping cost. Some buyers refuse, others see no need in making offers on other of your items since they will have to pay the full shipping/taxes/etc. on each. If you rely or have encouraged this sort of activity in the past, you may need to check your BUYER REQUIREMENTS on this page (See the last one at the bottom):
https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements
Everyone's was set to YES when eBay placed it there in 2021. If a buyer should make offers on multiple products, there is no more 'send an invoice' to save you and the buyer money. Each item is a separate transaction which you will pay .30 each, instead of .30 cents for one order combined. Each will require a separate tracking number, and fees on all the said shipping the buyer is required to pay individually.
Some sellers think this is wonderful. It probably will be just fine if they don't sell like items that buyers may wish to have as well. Just something to consider.
slippinjimmy
·3 years agoThat would be the ones that send out a bunch of offers to multiple sellers for the same/similar item and then later decide which seller they are going to follow through with and which ones they will silently stiff.
ebeths_eclectic_collectibles
·3 years agoYou can still everything together and assign the same tracking number. It is just more work as you generally have to refund excess shipping fees. How you deal with the 30 cent transaction fees is up to you when you decide how much to charge for combined shipping
lawnmowerpartsstore2
·3 years agoSo Ebay will allow you to assign the same tracking number ? Thanks for the heads up
yuzuha
·3 years agoTo more than one order? Yes, you just need to go in and paste it in manually. I do that all the time when I combine shipping on things.

·3 years agoYour sales have flatlined, why does that mean there is something wrong with the site?
Could it POSSIBLY be that nobody is buying your stuff right now?

·3 years agoThere was some information out there about how sellers on International Shipping were on different servers that weren't working quite right, people who were in the new international program sometimes had their sales die, and when they got out of it things improved somewhat. I have no doubt the new shipping will be great at some point for some people, but...

An alternate view is from a youtube and ebay seller I quite enjoy watching, that the market can change quickly and what was competitively priced last week now has a lot more intense competition, and you no longer have it listed for a price people will pay! He has a "tough love" video on the whole topic of sales suddenly dying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVZ2yzRPMcU&ab_channel=OneFootFlipper
Good luck!

·3 years agoThe issue with the auto opt in to EIS is that even after you opted out they didn't put things back the way they were.
linda7913
·3 years ago@richard1rst is correct. Some days will be better than others. It all depends on what you're selling, what buyers want, and when, as well as how much they are willing to pay. The only things you have control over is how you present your listings and treat your buyer when you get a sale; everything else is just luck. I have had some items sold on the same day I listed them, and other items just sat forever until I decided to withdraw them as being past their popularity. The rest of my listings are in-between the two and take time to sell, but they will eventually.
Selling is not a guaranteed income. Sales fluctuate and always has.

·3 years agoI believe what people are complaining about is not the day-to-day fluctuations, but rather the comparison over a period of time or for the entire year, in a seasonal or quarterly context.
To me and the majority of eBay sellers, that shows a significant downward trend.
justins-better-buys
OP3 years agoI can't believe people come in here and complain either lol
femmefan1946
·3 years ago@shar_27
I agree with what you say about comparisons in a seasonal or quarterly context.
But from my viewpoint, most of those complaining are not looking at the longview but at the past week (like the OP) or perhaps comparing May to June or January to December.
And that just is not going to give any useful information.
I used to tell customers in my shop who needed a solid quote, to come in at 2pm, preferably on a Tuesday, because inevitably, that was the quietest time of the week, year in year out, any month of the year. Worked for patio furniture, woodstove installations, and philatelic appraisals, which is something of a variety.
luckythewinner
·3 years agoPerhaps.
But this thread is a seller complaining specifically about his sales in the last week, not over a year, season, or quarter.
lawnmowerpartsstore2

·3 years agoNow I know everybody seems lo love blaming eBay every time there is a bump in the road. Follows is my sales chart for the past week. Now I know at first glance you might think I am just bragging. NO I AM NOT.
I am showing you an object lesson. There are a gazillion sellers on eBay. On some days some of us do quite well and others don't - see the bar on the far right. BUT on other days those same of us do not so so well and others do - see the bar on the far left.
That's just the way it goes. Get used to it and do not think you ever really have any control over it.
Once you accept that you will be much happier and less frustrated.

OP3 years ago$4000 in 60 days. 400 in last 30. If youve got that much spare time you can add them up
dbfolks166mt
·3 years agoI just checked your sold items. I'm not buying this "$100 a day" thing.
Agree the math simply does not work out on the OP's claim. Been on for about a year and only has 106 items sold, 80 in the last 90 days. Dollar figure alone doesn't mean much without the number of items. Even back in March/April OP was not doing $100 a day.
shar_27
·3 years agoOh... Yes.
Don't allow poverty to constrain our imagination.
There are rich people out there, and I envy them.
I have items on eBay listed for $9 but people are willing to pay $70 to get them from my other venues.
And these items are not just sold once; they continue to sell.
Marketing is not just price war, price war is a dead end.
Moreover, I don't believe any platform would be willing to position itself as a low-end, low-priced sales platform.
eBay might have tried to shake off this image already.
