My item was not scanned during its delivery by local carrier. Then eBay charged me for full refund.
I sold and shipped an item. According to the tracking information (first-calss mail), the item was moved by the US postal service, and it was scheduled for the final delivery by the local carrier to a home in a small town. The last entry is that the item was taking for its delivery by the local post office. There is no final scan of the item showing that it was delivered.
One week later, ... the buyer opened a case against me saying that he did not receive the item.
ebay customer service made a decision in his favor and charged me a full refund to the buyer. The buyer gave me a NEUTRAL feedback.
I appealed saying that the item was shipped, and was likely delivered without the final scan at the buyers's house. These things happend.
On 20 Mar 2023, Alliyah, ebay customer service representative sent me reply
"... we are unable to verify that the item had been delivered. If a buyer has not receive their item and we do not have proof of delivery, then a full refund is due to the buyer since the tracking number uploaded on the case shows no update since February 22, 2023. Based on the information gathered, we will consider item as lost in transit since tracking has no update for more than 10 days."
Should I assume that ebay seller's protection program does not work and that ebay will choke but will NOT pay for a gray case woth $17?

·3 years ago"Likely delivered" is not enough to win a INR case.
You must have proof (tracking) showing it was delivered.
This is one of the few seller protections sellers can count on.
If the tracking shows the package was delivered, the seller will win, of not, the seller will lose.
On a positive note.
I've had this happen to me before.
The buyer eventually received the item (late) and agreed to pay me for it.
Let's hope this happens for you too.

·3 years agoSellers never win an Item Not Received case when there isn't proof that the item was delivered. Even though you said "I appealed saying that the item was shipped, and was likely delivered without the final scan at the buyers's house. These things happend." There still isn't proof it was delivered.
Second since you allowed eBay to step in they will always close the case in favor of the buyer and refund them on your dime, doing so also gives you a defect on your seller account for not handling the INR yourself.
Sorry, but this is the cost of running a business.
eBay does have seller protection that protects you when you can prove delivery. Since there is no deliery scan there is no proof it was delivered. If the item was shown as delivered late after the tracking was uploaded on time, then you would have been protected.
