My First Promoted Item Sold.
So I un-promoted everything and promoted a few items on January 14th to understand how the new promoted thing works.
I did sell one item promoted at 20% yesterday...rather high I know but I am looking to obtain repeat buyers.
So the 'Final Value Fee' pre order amount is not charged on something promoted...it was .40 cents?
And it used to be the promoted charge was immediately withdraw from 'available funds' and that is no longer done?
My photo is from my iPhone which makes it easy for me to read.
If this is an eBay mistake...let's not tell them😆

·8 months agoThank You @krazzykats I used your link, I never look there & I can confirm that BOTH the one with & the one without PL, both show the .40 fee. Here's a pic of the one with PL. But of course this view doesn't show the PL fee, like my view did LOL.
So in the view I use, it must just be added to the total bucket. But as I said, they absolutely BOTH have the fee.

·8 months agoYeah, same here. I noticed it’s charged on a different screen than the promoted fee screen.
It would be nice to have all fees shown on a single screen, but I guess if the promoted listing fees are billed later, that’s not possible.
At the moment, the promoted fee shows up as separate line item separately from the per-order fee deduction line item when you expand the order details.

OP8 months agoeBay made the correction today...deducting the promoted fee.
Usually the promoted fee was deducted from available funds immediately.
Guess they caught it.😢

·8 months agoPL fees that are the result of the "halo effect" don't always get billed at the same time as standard PL fees.
valueaddedresource
·8 months ago@slippinjimmy this is absolutely not true.
First of all, there is no longer any such thing as the "halo effect" for Promoted General cost per sale ads.
Previously, attribution could be "direct" or "halo" but both of those attribution models ended on January 13th when they were replaced by the new model.
When you look at the reports now you will no longer see any designation for "direct" or "halo" for Promoted General ad sales, it will simply say "attributed."
Second, delayed ad attribution has been possible for years, regardless of whether it fell under direct, halo, or new the model.
eBay's ad reports and policy pages have a note that says "Metrics are reported in near real-time. Allow at least 72 hours to reconcile, although some campaign types might require more time."
That means a sale can come in initially not tagged as sold via promoted listings but hours or days later, it can be changed and the fee charged once it "reconciles."
Like I said, that has nothing to do with the "halo effect". Halo attribution was introduced in 2023 and this 72 hr reconciliation window has been around since at least 2021 - I know that because I personally spoke to VP Ads Alex Kazim about it at that time and he told me that ~5% of sales couldn't be attributed in real time.
I don't know where that stat stands today, but either way, delayed attribution/reconciliation is still a thing....and halo attribution for Promoted General ads is not.

·8 months ago@12345jamesstamps I am still very curious as to what your actual breakdown for this one transaction is. Would you be able to show both transaction fee pages, the one for promoted fees and the one for your regular fees? Go to the page with all your orders, find this one and click the button on the left with the 3 dots and in that drop down click "View Payment Details". This page will have a few line items including shipping payment, Promo fees and order fees. There is a button to the right of each line that says "View" and will have a better breakdown for all the fees that were charged on those pages.

·8 months agoPL fee is on a separate screen.
You wouldn't see the .40 fee on this screen.
This post is a clear misunderstanding how to read the fees.

·8 months agoForget the 40 cent fee you are selling an $11 with a 20% PL + free shipping? What is your final net and how often do you have buyers re-order from you?

OP8 months agoAbout 50+% are repeat buyers.
Since I give free domestic shipping and now some International free shipping I do get more multiple orders from a single buyer.
I notice a lot of buyers feel the combining of items can be complicated as to the total amount and having to do emails back and forth and so on.
Some buyers had a language(country) problem as well.
I get feedbacks in different languages...thus not everyone understands English as well as I do not understands other languages.
Some buyers just want to buy it and be done with having to contact the seller.
I try to simply buying from me.
I have had a great month of January so far where I have had to do some tracking (Priority Mail only because it has that $100. insurance value in it)...Plus I only have to deal with USPS if my item is lost.
I think a lot sellers un-promoted their items after January 13th...which increased my potential buyers by the way.

·8 months ago@krazzykats As I posted in my images, I do not have them as a separate line item regardless of whether PL was in effect or not. I have no idea what screen that is that you're posting? I'd love to check on mine b/c I don't have them either way. But as I said, they may be lump summed into the Transaction Fees bucket.
It's always so hard to figure out this stuff b/c everyone uses different screens & features.
ETA: I just checked with husband who imports all the CSV data from eBay to import to our spreadsheets & he says that he has never seen an item without the fixed fee in that column. I sell about 50% PL & 50% not, so if you didn't get charged the fixed fee for PL's, then that column would import blank or 0's half the time. That said, he does them in aggregate & doesn't take a deep look into it. But I think he would have noticed if that column was 0's half the time.
I'm not aware of any reason why it would not apply to PL's. But I could be missing something.

·8 months ago@simply-the-best-for-you The screen you are looking for is the "Transaction Details" page. On the order page, the line for transaction fees usually includes FVF, per order fee and maybe international fees if the order is shipped internationally. To see the break down of those fees, you can do 1 of 2 options.
If you are on the page with all your orders, Find the order you want and click on the button with 3 dots on the left. In the drop down, click on "View Payment Details". This page has a few item lines, including your shipping payment for that item, it will have the breakdown for your orders regular fees, and may have a line for promoted fees if you promote your items. To see the breakdown for each of these, all the way to the right is a button to "View".
If you are already on the order page for the item, click the button at the bottom that says "View More Details". It will bring you to those same pages above.

·8 months agoHere's another one from today with NO Adfee (PL). If OP is in fact talking about the "per order" fee, you can see that neither one has it line itemed out.
BTW, if you click on the definition for either one, neither of the definitions mentions the per item fee. I've never much paid attn to it, tbh, so I couldn't even tell you if it's still charged or how much it is LOL. Based on @krazzykats post & the fact that I've not had a line item per order fee in the Order Details since Order Details existed, I assume it's wrapped into the FVF total, which is what the definition that Katz posted would seem to indicate. Odd though that clicking on the definition on the screen does not call it out.

·8 months agoOk, Maybe I misunderstood what they were asking, they said pre-order & I thought that was something different. The PER Order fee I thought was a part of the total on the Transaction Fees. I've never seen it listed separate, whether or not it was a PL. I have another from today without PL & it's not a separate line item there either. I've always thought it was a part of the Transaction Fee sections, which includes several fees.
But I thought OP was talking about the FVF & the PL fee & they DO charge both, but OP is just looking at the wrong screen.
ETA: I've never paid any attn when it's subtracted from avl funds, so I can't speak to that.
Here's one of mine from today.
krazzykats
·8 months agoExactly, no per order fee.
I just checked some of my promoted items from December and didn't find the .30 or .40 order fee on them.

·8 months agoI dont think your math is mathing!
I think what you are looking at is the transaction details page just for the promotion fee. Try checking the order details page which will have a better break down of the selling cost to include FVF and promo fees.
Please give us an update as I am genuinely curious. I have notice since the 14th, some promo fees being charged nearly 24 hours after a purchase and some charged shortly after a purchase.
simply-the-best-for-you
·8 months agoI'm not sure what screen you're looking at, maybe one that just goes over the PL? But the FVF is absolutely still charged. You need to look at your Order Details page. Under Selling Costs, the Transaction Fees portion defines the FVF (and some other charges, you can click on it for info). Right below it the Ad Fee General denotes the PL fee. LMK if you require a screenshot, but you must be looking at the Order Details page which you can get to by clicking on the Order # from any of your sold items.
