My account was flagged
I received an account flagg today that my defect rate was above the 2%. In doing more research, the issue is from last September. My storage unit was robbed and things sold while I was inventorying what was selling. This was right before a multi month trip abroad. Therefore there were 5 orders I needed to cancel. The account was just flagged today, although this was almost a year ago. How can I fix this?

It is odd that it wasn't flagged immediately after the 5th cancelled order, honestly. As the other poster said, for low volume sellers, it's a 12-month period for evaluation so that's why it still matters a year later, but I would have thought the transaction defect rate would have flagged sooner. Unless you had a recent late shipment or something that just pushed it above the 2%?
Regardless, you could try to talk to customer support about your mitigating circumstances, or just wait for the defects to drop off as already suggested. The flag won't go away until it drops below 2% again, but if you're getting close to those first cancelled transactions, it shouldn't take too long.

·2 weeks agoThe reason this flag appeared today—nearly a year later—is due to eBay's 12-month evaluation lookback window. For lower-volume sellers (fewer than 400 transactions in the last three months), eBay calculates your defect rate using a rolling 12-month window. Because your overall transaction volume likely dropped during your multi-month trip abroad, those 5 old defects now make up a much higher, highly concentrated percentage of your recent total sales.
Transaction defects automatically expire and completely drop off your dashboard exactly 12 months after they occurred. So you play the waiting game and let them drop off,
