Hi everyone,
I recently received a message from eBay saying that my account is linked to another suspended account. I uploaded my government ID, bank statements, and all other requested documents, but eBay still denied my appeal.
I have been selling on this account for about five years without any problems. I do not sell large amounts. eBay is mainly my hobby, and I sell unique lighters and collectible dishes.
My personal information and Social Security number have been stolen several times in the past. Credit accounts and other accounts were opened in my name, and I have filed police reports for identity theft.
I am a government employee working at NASA, and I always take rules and compliance seriously. It is very upsetting to be accused of breaking the rules when I have tried to follow them.
Has anyone had a similar situation? What can I do to request another review? Would a new police report, identity theft report, lawyer, or government legal assistance help? I also do not understand why eBay raised this issue only after five years.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

·1 month agoSorry you're going through this. We've seen the same situation before, and Slayva helped us get our account back by preparing a stronger appeal with better documentation. If identity theft is involved, I'd keep pushing for a manual review and include every piece of supporting evidence you have. Hope you get it resolved soon.

I think it is time to lawyer up with a very good one if you want your selling privileges back. Once banned you will not be able to open a account in the future.

More than just police reports, does your federal income tax filings show you were a past victim of identity theft and do you now file with an IRS security PIN? Or have other security in place, like Life Lock, to show how others have tried to open accounts and were blocked?
eBay has dates and times of when these "other" accounts were opened, if you could get assistance from CS on Instagram, they could maybe help and see if things line up...but I wouldn't expect much help.
Since you said you work at NASA, identity theft can be a huge employment issue...what did you do there to clean things up? Those documents could help with eBay as well, probably more than anything else. Many people employed by NASA can get reclassified as a result of the theft

·1 month agoThe system alerted suspicious activity. A person can be on Ebay for 25 years and can get an alert like this. You need to speak to an agent to figure out how and if this can even be resolved. There is a chance you will be permanently suspended.

OP1 month agoI thought about that too, but I uploaded real store receipts. Maybe their algorithm made a mistake. What happens now? If they ban me, does that mean I can never open new account?
