More on - the stupid search - how they shadowban our listings
I searched in Postcards for "Little League Baseball" - no quotes - in chrome (on web). 2 results.
Then further down under Results matching fewer words I found my own listing:
Lyndhurst Little League Baseball Field, Lundhurst NJ postcard
which contains the exact words for which I searched (and I see I have a typo to fix)
In Firefox, I get the same 2 results, but my listing doesn't even show up under Results matching fewer words.
If I put in " " I get better results. But I am searching for these 3 words and it doesn't show my non-promoted listing, so there is my answer.

No wonder sales plummet!
If someone has told you to search by putting quotes, comma, doing somersaults, clapping hands, and touching your nose before searching again, that kind of approach only demonstrates a loser mindset.
If a buyers don't find what they're looking for the first time, they'll simply leave. Who would waste their time hanging around on such a lousy search engine?
There are better places to go!

·3 years agoI do not think it is 'shadow banning" I think it is just the fact that ebay is terrible at search, not just on items for sale but also things like ebay policies, if you want to find a specific policy it works much better to use google than try to find it directly on ebay

·3 years ago...and make sure ebay didn't change your search category. If I search an athlete in All Categories, it changes it to trading card singles. This not only eliminates all sellers who have a trading card lot but also T-shirts, etc. I have to search in a totally unrelated category, then ebay tells me, 'we didn't find any results in *unrelated category* so we searched All Categories." Gee thanks. That's what I wanted to do in the first place!!! Freaking annoying.

OP3 years agoI also recently posted on how ebay keeps automatically translating my nonEnglish term search terms, even in quotations, I don't need to search for the translated word, I need to search the exact term for which I am searching!
