Money holds and eBay lack of accountability
Started with EBay Paypal in late 90's and had a great time buying and then later selling as well. Came back after the Paypal-Ebay split and found out after 100% good feedback that they like to hold your money even after you provide a CC number, a bank account, and keep buying almost every week. Last time I posted this I was threatened(which I am reporting to the Feds that have Ebay on probation) to be kicked off the fake "community boards" because Ebay is still censoring their customers and holding their funds for no reason. I was not surprised when I saw that Ebay was fined 3 mil in a Federal criminal case when their security teams travelled out of state and set out to harass an elderly couple who posted something Ebay did not like. Ebay apparently doesn't care what they do to their customers. After 17 total years on Ebay and with a 100% good feedback both buying and selling, I have had enough of them. ·2 years agoBuying is not a factor in the funds holding when selling. The hold on funds when selling is only temporary and goes away after 2-4 weeks once you build up a record of good sales.
Ebay does not 'censor' their customers although this forum (run by Khoros) can remove posts if the wording goes against the rules of engagement.
What exactly happened when you were 'threatened'? Who in the 'Feds' did you report this to? Who told you that Ebay is 'on probation'?

Bank accounts are required for all sellers. And nowhere has eBay ever suggested that unrelated buying activity impacts the risk assessment of a selling transaction.

Once again, what specifically was the "threat" that you received from eBay?

·2 years agoI think a lot of companies and persons have pending cases against them...rather not name them all.
Like everyone mentioned here your funds will be on hold if you haven't sold in a while...30 days.
It doesn't matter how much you purchased or how long you been with eBay or your 100% feedback.
Your actually hooked up to eBay now for selling...and done everything already...why get mad because the funds doesn't arrive right away from a sale.

·2 years agoALL new sellers as well as sellers who haven't sold for an extended period (I think 90 days) will be treated like new sellers and their funds are held.

Were you to open a new PayPal or Amazon account, you would be subject to holds.
The penalty you are referring to has nothing to do with normal Ebay operations. Customers were affected in that action.
It was tied to how Ebay employees mistreated members of the press and how Ebay failed to properly manage those employees.
I have no clue whether anyone loves Ebay, but Ebay has never been suited to all potential buyers or sellers, and no matter how it tries it will not be.
Your feedback is totally irrelevant, just as mine is and every other buyer and seller's is irrelevant.
I was here a long time, I was gone for 12 years, selling elsewhere and I am back. Its all about the money. That's what Ebay cares about, that's what I and most professional sellers care about, and that's what buyers care about.

Yes, this is well known. While the ruling is a current one, the stalking incidents involving the “E-commerce Bytes†couple, Ina and David Steiner, was years back. The eBay employees who did the criminal acts are all in prison.

OP2 years agoIt still happened and it was still sanctioned by upper management at Ebay. If you do not like constructive criticism, move to China where so many of your large customers are from.
