Minimum prices on listings
I feel it would improve EBAY greatly if a minimum amount was set for shipping and item for sale combined on buy it now items. You already have .99 cent set as a minimum price but if you change it to 1.98 total it would be a huge improvement I feel most would welcome with open arms. Just do it on buy it now listings at least in sports cards. I see cards I sell at store and shows selling for .99 cents free shipping lol fees and shipping alone comes to 1.30 some if not promoting and it lowers the comp price on ai and for many star cards that sell at store 2 to 5 dollars. Its killing the business on these cards. I have to pay 2.00 plus for a candy bar that cost me .15 cents in 1968 but I can buy a collectible mint baseball card for .99 cents thats 58 yrs old? When shipping cost .74 plus .30 insertion then .1325 fee lol add envelope and top loader and sleeve and ink and paper .15 .. they lose .50 cents on each sale. Unless they are getting special prices from ebay I dont know about but 1.98 min. Makes it a huge improvement. You could list 1.98 free shipping or .99 and .99 ebay standard on shipping then at least you're not lowering values of these cards. They sell at 2, 3, 4 dollars but not when people just sell at losses. Just a thought Mr e-bay. Thank you for your time.

·5 months agoYeah, after the actual shipping costs kick in, your 1.98 already sets you back to -5.00 or more. if you are trying to exist on below 1.00 profits in volume, the internet is not for you.

Don't believe there is a "Mr. eBay", but, if there were, I don't think he'd be here.

If you cannot figure out how to compete, don't list them.

·5 months agoAny item under $6 really isn't worth shipping. If 99 cents is losing you money then increase your prices. You personally can list the item for $1.98 "Free Shipping" if you like but I don't really see the time invested making it worth it. Usually selling stuff like that in bulk lots is worth it. Sellers sell stuff at a loss cause most likely the purchased a bulk lot and they make profit off the more valuable stuff and take a loss on the cheap stuff to get rid of it. It's a get rid of price.

Not everyone that sells on eBay is here to make money. Some do it as hobby. I have a $2.99 minimum plus shipping on my items.
I rarely do free shipping and when I do the sales price is $75 or higher.

·5 months agoThose doing it as a hobby are killing some sales for sellers because they sell to many items below their value,Which forces some sellers that fall into the trap to try & compete with those prices & finding themselves losing money.That's part of the reason why comparing what items are selling for is detrimental.
