Mini-poll a month after automatic FB for sellers went into effect.
Are you:
a) surprised sellers are still coming to this forum asking how to get more FB from buyers
b) not surprised; you expected sellers would still be asking how to get more FB from buyers at this stage
c) confused; you never heard of automatic feedback for sellers
d) [fill in the blank, preferably with something funny]

·11 months agoNothing surprises me anymore on these boards but I'm sure we will still see:
Why am I being charged for shipping when I offer free shipping?
Did you know that ebay charges fees on the TOTAL collected from the buyer, including taxes?
How do I report someone that is using my pictures and description?
and my personal favorite..
I'm not selling here anymore because ebay asked me to prove my identity with a valid ID.

OP11 months agoActually, I haven't seen that one come up in a really long time. Not since eBay made the app more clear, "free for buyer, seller pays" when the option is selected. Sometimes eBay does recognize those pain points and make adjustments.
iamalwaysright
·11 months agoThen I guess ebay doesn't recognize the "By literal definition ETA is an estimate, not a guarantee. And this is a date range. The first date on the range you see is not the deadline." issue as a pain point.
Someone oughta let ebay know.

·11 months agoI have to give two answers:
( B ) - Because nothing surprises me here anymore. ( see next answer )
And
( D )- Still waiting for someone to think that all the same feedback wording is a repeate buyer. 😂

OP11 months agoDo you guys remember that thread (or three) where seller(s) came here thinking their buyers were shady shill accounts because had many repetitive feedback comments?
There's one in particular that stands out in my mind. It was shortly after the "most relevant" feedback filter launched a couple years ago and a lot of same-comment feedback was getting grouped together in the sort order.
We had to explain (with screenshots) that eBay offers sellers 5 prefilled comments they can apply as automatic feedback for buyers. I know @valueaddedresource will remember that one. It was pretty funny.

·11 months agoUnlikely to become an issue. The feedback does have a buyer identification beside it, not their actual ID but a coded one that will be different if the feedback is done for another transaction with a different buyer.
wastingtime101
OP11 months agoIt says "eBay Automated Feedback" - no masked buyer ID because it's not tied to the buyer's account.
Either way, I asked for humorous responses for choice D (the point of this thread was tongue in cheek comic relief) so I'm guessing wirk was kidding around as requested in the OP. 😉

·11 months agoI'm not surprised. Way too many sellers do not read the emails they get from Ebay to include the Monthly Seller updates that Ebay issues. I bet we still have these question in a year or more.

·11 months agoI am more sick and tired of some of the same questions that are asked on a regular basis.
For example: "Why do I pay fees on sales tax and shipping?"
Frankly, I think the auto feedback is more fair to sellers, the smaller ones for sure. Because many buyers no longer leave positive feedback, the negatives have much more weight. I always thought calculating percentages on a portion of your sales was biased and not fair.
If I ship within my handling time, item arrives undamaged and as described, why shouldn't that transaction be counted as a successful sale for me?

D. Still waiting for the resulting flood of neutrals and negatives, as predicted by so many doomsayers. Yawn.

OP11 months agoThat stemmed from years worth of debate on this forum and elsewhere over the feedback topic. So many buyers said they would leave neg/neut rather than have eBay leave an auto-pos on a transaction they were not entirely happy with and chose to leave no FB instead.
The premise had a whole lot more teeth to it before it was revealed buyers have no visibility to auto-FB left for their transactions. It does not appear on their FB profile and their purchase history shows the transaction is still awaiting FB.
When it was thought the feedback would be left "on the buyer's behalf" and buyers would see it, the argument had a small amount of merit with what was likely negligible impact.
Unless you have some die-hard buyers that follow seller changes, most buyers will never know about auto-FB. They'd have to go digging through a seller's profile and try to find an auto-FB linked to their item number to know it was even left unless they keep up with seller announcements.

Ahhhh... now I have the background.
Thx.

·11 months agoAs far as how many buyers will ever know auto's are a thing, one thing we could possibly underestimate how many buyers are also sellers, whether via the same or separate accounts. Just about all the members who have said (here) that this is going to make them leave neutrals/negatives when they otherwise would leave nothing -were sellers (duh, that's why they're here more than buyers). But even sellers who don't come to the forums would quickly notice auto's popping up in their feedback, then learn what that's about one way or another, and come to the realization that it will also happen with their own purchases if they don't do manual feedbacks.
And I wouldn't be surprised if a sizeable portion of them have grumpy thoughts about it and make the same plans as a sizeable portion here did.
You know what I have to say to that? GOOD!!
Honestly, the biggest eye-opener to me has been how many people say they usually let unsatisfying purchases go without any feedback, not even neutral. I've seen at least a couple say they "NEVER" leave negatives, no matter how horrible the experience. -So if we extrapolate that to all the eBay'ers outside of the forums, that's a LOT of warnings buyers never see when considering buying from sellers who did a sub-positive job. If people who don't want automation giving those sellers positives will now bother to take the couple of minutes to leave honest feedback for dissatisfying experiences, that's just another benefit of this feature.

·11 months agoBuyer and seller:
Try to avoid giving negs as i know how damaging they can be
but, saw that auto feedback was coming so left a neutral (no real pain to seller) when I would have just let it go before.
gurlcat
·11 months agoCool, that may help another buyer in the future.

·11 months ago@purchase1212
Would you mind explaining why it made you feel this way? You realize, even if auto feedback is posted on a seller's account the buyer still has the right to leave feedback and the auto remarks are removed. When you left your neutral, the auto feedback was deleted for your transaction.
And hopefully you know the auto feedback is left by Ebay NOT the seller. The seller has nothing to do with it. So what made you feel the way you did that you needed to make a point to the seller, who had no control over it?
In looking at your account, I don't see any neutral feedbacks left for anyone recently. Just my observation.

I did something similar the other day, leaving a positive with some constructive criticism for the seller.
Don't know if they'll see it, but I like that seller and am a repeat customer.

·11 months agod) surprised by the particular scope of the poll.

It does say "mini" so it makes sense that it's about one little aspect, as opposed to a more general survey on auto-feedbacks.
But .... are sellerS (plural) still coming to ask about how to get more FB? I've seen only this one:

I do so because it's obvious that the majority of sellers never read the Seller Updates and have no clue about changes eBay makes regardless if they are positive or negative changes.
