May Experiment: Ended promotions, sales up 16%
April, May and June are typically kinda slow for me. I decided to try an experiment, on April 30 I ended all my promotions on all my listings, which had been at 2% across the board for a couple of years. I know the month of May isn’t over yet, but as of today, the 26th, my item sales are up 16% over same period last month. I really tried to keep all the other parameters the same…listing daily, shipping out in 1 day, sending a few offers to watchers over the weekend. I’m not drawing any conclusions or making any predictions. But I’m happy with both the increased sales and the 2% of the total that eBay would have taken. That’s about $35.

·1 year agoHow do your sales since you ended promotions compare to this period last year?
We stopped doing promotions a while and also saw an increase in sales, and curiously, an increase in organic impressions and views, though of course the total impressions dropped without the promoted ones in the mix. I suspect more of our impressions now are from people who actually are searching for what we’re offering, as opposed to getting promoted listing inserted in less relevant searches, leading to more views and more sales.

OP1 year agoMay last year was atypical due to a death in the family, so May sales last year were way down, not a good comparison.
