·3 months agoWhen I go from Community to ebay I get a quickly disappearing screen that says "checking your browser"........that started happening to me while/after all the stuff was going on.........disappeared for a few days, but now happening again.........Also getting the verification screen with the square choices.....I NEVER got that before, though I read people were sometimes plagued by it.

·3 months agoI got the "broswer" thing again today....had gone away for a couple of days...

·3 months agoeBay is not down, at least not like this thread is talking about. I suggest you start a new thread about your issue (probably in the Buying section of the forum) and explain what happens when you are trying to pay for your purchase.
gurlcat
·3 months ago@jonathanbrightlight I do wonder if there are any lagging effects. Probably not, but I had a peculiar find today. -3 "new" messages from eBay, but one was dated Apr.30th, and two were May 1st. They absolutely were not there until today, or at least I didn't get notifications of any until today. Incidentally there was also one from a buyer that was sent today, so maybe that has something to do with the eBay ones being 'silent' until there was a buyer-sent one?? Have you ever heard of anything like that before?

·3 months agoLooks like Whatnot may be getting it now. Im a seller/buyer on ebay and it affected me here, but im running into frozen livestreams now.
Can they stop and hack the government instead? We didnt do anything. Lol

·3 months agoI think this outage has to do to retaliatory revenge on all these recent accounts being ban. Hacker group probably been selling how to do dropshipping accounts to those closed accounts. 😵

·3 months agoI’d gladly skip the puppy stage if I could.
My new pup is wreaking havoc on my front yard—there are toys, sticks, and balls scattered everywhere, yet she always seems to go for anything that isn’t a dog toy.
I tried pulling some weeds, but she would grab them and run off, scattering them everywhere.
Very food obsessive, so has to be put outside when people are eating. She is also a messy eater.
Has a thing for anything white, whether it’s shoes, socks, or gloves and a habit of stealing paper napkins.
I am waiting for some maturity to appear. Hope its sooner than 5 years though.

·3 months ago@krazzykats my dad has a Golden Doodle whose greatest joy in life is to find his belongings and drag them out through the dog door into the biggest mud puddle she can find to marinate said belongings in before proceeding to chew them to pieces, including a very expensive pair of custom-made ostrich leather cowboy boots.
I love my dog....but that probably would have been the last straw for me. Luckily for the dog, my dad has the patience of a saint and a good sense of humor, so she still has a home, where the expensive shoes are now locked away out of reach. 😂

"No Healthy Upstream"
Sorry eBay is have ED.
gurlcat
·3 months agoI saw that flash on my screen for just a second but then the page loaded. Earlier today (a few times) it was 'Gateway timeout.' Sunday it was the edgesuite number string messages.
@valueaddedresource Is it not extra spooky that the 'types' of errors are varying now?
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@gurlcat I don't know about extra spooky but to me it definitely bolsters the DDoS claims - in those scenarios it would not be uncommon for the threat actor to switch up their methods and targets as the victim site also switches up their mitigation efforts to match.
If different parts of the site are being affected at different times and/or in different ways using different methods for both the attack and defense, you can also expect to see different types of errors and error messages.
gurlcat
·3 months ago@valueaddedresource Yup that's exactly what I meant by extra spooky. Varied and ongoing attacks.
Glitch: You have a nail sticking out of a doorway at upper-arm height. Each time you pass through, you get scratched in the same spot on your upper arm, until you find your hammer to pound it back in, then it's over.
DDoS: You have a village coming at you with nails, throwing stars, swords, maybe a Garden Weasel for your toes.
Do I have that about right?
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@gurlcat yep you have that about right....and thanks for the mental image. 🤣

But you probably know how it's really a mixed bag, curses and blessings. 😉

·3 months agoWell, you probably get to meet 'new' friends everyday, and, you can hide your own Easter eggs! Not a bad life.
I was told that when I reached 30, the guys in the white coats would come to get me, give me a nice robe, fill me with LSD and let me do some deep thinking all day in a place where it never rains during the day and the sun always shines. Never happened 😫
So anyway, the Feds (Cdn) removed their tax from our gasoline to give us a break and the price at the pumps only went up about 20 cents/litre. So, life is good ...
grann-4629
·3 months agoDo I have that about right?
Close, but after the villagers attack, everyone is dead ... there is no comeback or resetting and the techs can't fix dead people. 😎
valueaddedresource
·3 months agoYep, I was getting errors again trying to access the community a few minutes ago and it looks like another spike in progress on Down Detector.
Earnings call tomorrow should be fun. 💸

·3 months agoGoogling things tells you it is a DDOS attack. It is not an ebay glitch, ebay's servers are being actively attacked by an army of what is basically zombie computers.
Also, problems still continue. I didn't sell a thing today and cannot check out as a buyer.
scrane2006
·3 months agoeBay Never Announces any problems, I don't get it they have a Team of Tech people, what are they doing, the monthly free listing counter has not been working for over 2 month, no excuse for this crap.

·3 months agoI did have 2 charges...same cost of something...added to my card...and then taken out...meaning it was an error of charging me and it got corrected...through eBay...during the glitch.
I notice it because I won one of those 'one hour' pay auction's and that actually went through during the glitch period...I was trying to change the payment source and couldn't in that hour.
I was just surprised eBay got their money from that auction.

·3 months agoInteresting. I see that at midnight last night I had a buyer return time out and close because the there's no record the buyer shipped it back to me. Not like I care about the buyer, but I wonder how ebay would handle it if the buyer complained that the outage affected his ability to return it.
gurlcat
·3 months ago@iamalwaysright I reckon if the buyer is savvy enough they could probably get a courtesy refund from eBay. Makes you wonder what all kinds of compensation the company will have to do because of this disaster, on top of a drastic hit to sales revenue.
I've seen some hilarious posts on Reddit and Facebook the past couple days, all kinds of rage posts about eBay "letting" this go on. As if the company doesn't have exponentially more reason to want it fully fixed than all of us combined. Even stopping the hemorrhage won't be the end of it. Some buyers will never come back, fearing their bank info being at-risk here, same with some sellers I'm sure. Then there's the stockholders, oof. -Q1 announcement tomorrow, by the way. 😣

I am back!
It appears as though the password change that errored yesterday and kicked me out actually did work! When I tried to sign in this morning, I saw that the password was incorrect. So, I entered the new password I used yesterday, in my what seemed to be a failed attempt to change my password, and it worked!
I hope today is a better day for all of us.

·3 months agoit will be interesting to look at traffic reports, once we're sure it's back up......not that they will tell us it's now working properly.
mcdougle4248
·3 months ago@dhbookds
I am not sure about the data in the traffic reports. I can finally take a look at mine, and I am seeing a 350% increase in promoted listings views on Sunday. I do not think that is correct. The data for yesterday is believable, though. I will see if the data "reconciles" in the next 72 hours.
dhbookds
·3 months agoGreat news on the password!!!! yeah, going to be a while before I believe the traffic stuff.........
pls-consignments
OP3 months agoI have never trusted the traffic data. The last 2-days confirms it.
Bar chart actually shows increases across the board with peaks on Sunday & Monday. However, impressions and view counts are 24% down and only one sale.
dirk12955
·3 months agoSeem that we're back to normal.
At least for the moment.
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@pls-consignments one thing to keep in mind is that one of the reasons eBay has the 72 hour reconciliation window is that (theoretically) they have systems that are supposed to filter out bot traffic from the stats.
Obviously outside of the issues the last couple of days it's debatable how successful eBay is at that and whether those stats can really be trusted even once they reconcile.
But just generally speaking - if what was happening the last few days was a DDoS attack, then it would actually make sense that the reports might initially show an increase in traffic (from bots) even if actual human users weren't able to load pages or complete sales.
If by the end of this week those traffic reports are still showing an increase on those days, or even honestly just staying about the same as previous averages, that will be a whole other kettle of fish.
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@mcdougle4248 glad to hear you got it sorted out and thanks for sharing your traffic data! I'm with you, I'd wait for that 72 hour reconciliation period because honestly, the reliability of data before then has been suspect for a long time, regardless of this latest meltdown.

1 Hour plus wait time...
Customer Service was able to help me get into my account settings. When I tried to change my password, I got a red flag to try again later. I was connected to "Security" and told to wait 24 to 48 hrs to receive an email from eBay. I doubt that email will ever arrive😓 . After the call, I tried to get back to Seller Hub and received the we think you are a bot, moving too fast error. So right now, I am out of my account and can't sign in.
Woe is me. I am surprised I can still post here 😊
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@mcdougle4248 oh no, sorry to hear that. 🙁
The site is back up for me now and seems to be working - everything is faster than it has been in days, descriptions are loading etc. Hoping that means they may finally be on the right track but not holding my breath.

·3 months agoLooks like another spike starting on Down Detector and the entire eBay.com domain is currently down for me - even bookmarked seller hub links aren't working for me right now.
edit to add: getting the same with any page I try to access eBay.co.UK and eBay.CA

·3 months agoAll of my listings are showing Add to Watchlist and can't be purchased. I had 7 sales today and now everything's messed up.
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@michaelruth that's not due to the current tech issues - eBay recently changed it so that when you view your own items, there's no buy button because you can't buy your own things.
More info:

·3 months agoI'm currently messaging with a customer complaining that he can't purchase one of my items, that's why I started investigating. Thanks for the information, though, I didn't know that!
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@michaelruth yeah they might be experiencing checkout issues - that is one of the things happening with the current tech problems. But the no buy button thing is most likely just how it displays your own items to you.
michaelruth
·3 months agoThank you, again. I appreciate the information. I'll tell him to keep trying. : )

·3 months agoIs this really April 1st and my comp date is just wonky??
To add to the ebay not working completely:
GoDaddy did a complete 'update' to their store layouts and I have over 100 issues from wrong pics to not filtering correctly to even bringing back items I deleted months ago. Can't edit pictures, prices or inventory counts.
mcdougle4248

·3 months agoError message when I tried to log out of this account.
Everything was fine for half an hour or so.
mcdougle4248
·3 months agoI am afraid to log out...how long could it take to log back in 🙄
iamalwaysright
·3 months agoWhoa I’m finally back.
Anyway, yea. Unrelated to this outage, eBay has been glitching with their stated callback wait time. For like the last two or so weeks now every time you get a callback eBay always says the wait time is 31+ minutes. Many time I got that and actually got a callback in like 2 minutes.
toomuchstuffagain35
·3 months agoI really hope it's over (finally).
I only have 3 parcels to ship tomorrow that were bought on Fri/Sat. No sales since then.
I'm amazed I managed get all the labels printed for the shipments yesterday that I did.
I do not want to go through that again for a while.
mcdougle4248
·3 months agoWell, I received an email from eBay stating there was a new sign-in on my account from Virginia, and I live in Arizona.
I am signed in to my eBay account. So, I click the link in the email to change my password (as recommended) and get the error message we are all familiar with since this whole mess started. I tried doing it from the help page, no go, error again. Tried to get into my account settings, error message again. I cannot get into my eBay messages, so I have no idea if there might be a link for me in a message from eBay.
I hope this is just part of all the issues and not something to be concerned about. Has anyone else received an email from eBay stating that there was a sign-in from a state you do not live in?
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@mcdougle4248 yikes! I know contacting support is a pain under normal circumstances and I can't imagine what it's like right now but I'd definitely try if I were you just to be safe.

gurlcat
·3 months ago@mcdougle4248 OMG you're HERE now! Okay first I'm truly sorry you're having to deal with all of that (what on Earth?!!!!).

dhbookds
·3 months agoI wonder if they will tell us when it's fixed.......???? From history........they won't.
dirk12955
·3 months agoIt is NOT fixed.
Works for a few minutes then back to glitch city.
kibble-net
·3 months agoEverything seems to be working again. Everyone can now calm down 😉 We made it!
Sometimes you just need to unplug for a little bit anyway. Might as well make the most of the situation. When this sort of thing happens, Ebay doesn't want the site to be down any more than we do.
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@kibble-net unfortunately it's not that simple - key word in the official announcement being "intermittent."
For example, I just clicked on a listing for a woman's blouse and another listing for a Bose stereo....description for the blouse loaded fine, stereo was blank then displayed error message once it finally loaded.
All of the other issues with log in, messages, check out, etc. also seem to be just as hit or miss, but they are still happening for some users and I would not say we are anywhere near the "all clear" point.
bigoljim47
·3 months agoThis morning I sign in and got a message that I was not authorized. I tried several times after about 15 min finally got in. The whole site has been wonky. No sales for the past 6 days.

·3 months agoWe definitely haven't made it at all. Two more buyers saying they can't check out, one of them extremely aggravated (full-caps raging, like it's my fault). Just tried to access seller hub and couldn't get to it. Just tried to revise and list by API and couldn't.
It's just as bad as ever over here. Utah region. Seems to be affecting users differently depending on where you are.

·3 months ago@kibble-net Here is what all your Descriptions say right now:

gurlcat
·3 months ago@kibble-net I put it in my cart (hey who cares what descriptions say anyway; eBay has a MBG!).

But here's what happens when I try to go to checkout:
If any people ARE able to buy from you, it's random luck. That is what the entire platform is like, no predictable function from one account to the next, one device to the next, one moment to the next.
lconway50
·3 months agoMy full item descriptions that included all measurements and noted flaws are missing.
gurlcat
·3 months agoYes missing description is (arguably) the most common symptom of this bug. There are many others that come and go randomly, but that one is fairly consistent, and has been since this all started yesterday afternoon.

·3 months agoAfter 4 hours of trying, my order finally went through. Maybe eBay has finally got this straightened out. Whew! What a headache!
projektauto
·3 months agoWe don't have a huge store. We've still had 4 different buyers who are unable to purchase the items they are looking at. eBay US, motors/parts. At least one guy has been trying for over 2 hours.
Seller Hub is having issues, too. So are other areas of the site, like seller standards.
Full Descriptions are still not loading, which is a huge problem. Items are selling with essentially no details which is a recipe for disappointed buyers, regardless of "protections" from eBay.
Bummer, all around.
jonathanbrightlight
·3 months agoI just checked your listings, and the first one I tried did load the full formatted description, so it's not completely failing across the board. Not sure if it's affecting certain accounts differently or if it's just struggling with the load and fails at times depending on other factors.
perfumenmore
·3 months agoThis stinks, because not only did a seller offer me a good price on an item, but I also have an eBay coupon I planned to use too and that expires on the 29th. Not only that, but the seller made this offer to several other buyers, and I am afraid that I will lose out on the purchase and it is something that I have been looking for now for a long, long time.
jonathanbrightlight
·3 months agoHopefully it will be resolved by then, that would be a very long time for an issue of this magnitude to continue.
perfumenmore
·3 months agoYes, it finally did after 4 hours and a massive headache. I'm in the northeast corridor of the country, and from what I read, that was one of the regions hit with this outage.

·3 months agoIs it me or eBay.. Since early this morning (est)., I couldn't get into eBay on Firefox or Chrome.. I done all the cookie clearing, restarting, VPN's, removed extensions and other stuff... Only way to get into eBay is in a private window on Firefox which I am able to log in here now as well.. Never had a problem until today..
I am hear only cause I opened eBay in a private browsing window..
Any Ideas or is it eBay?

toomuchstuffagain35
·3 months agoNow it won't let me log out. Claims I'm a bot.
valueaddedresource
·3 months ago@toomuchstuffagain35 hmm, I'm seeing several people reporting getting the "Pardon our interruption...
As you were browsing eBay, something about your browser made us think you were a bot" message today. 🤔
Again, not definitive by any means, but certainly could indicate eBay is dealing with a bot-driven DDoS attack and/or is tweaking their bot detection systems in some way as part of whatever is going on right now.
valueaddedresource
·3 months agoThe issues are definitely not completely fixed. I just tried looking at a few listings and am still getting the blank description at first that eventually loads an error message.

Please advise how to get help if this issue is not related to the current technical issues. Thanks! @seller_news_team

Hi @loothive. I am unfortunately unable to view your account due to lack of verification on my end. However, we will protect against tracking and shipping metric impacts from this. You will want to reach out to our customer service agents so they can review your account for what may be affected.
