Major EBAY Discount Code Glitch
Ebay currently glitching and providing erroneous discount codes.
We've offered the same ongoing coupon for 20% off of $100 and now ebay's showing that code to ALL individual items well below the threshold and buyer's are wondering why their checkout coupons aren't working.
Our sale CLEARLY STATES 20% off $100 so WHY ARE CUSTOMERS SEEING THAT COUPON CODE ON LOW VALUE ITEMS WHEN THAT CODE SHOULD NOT APPLY??Customer service of no help, disconnected

·8 months agoSame issue with EXTRA 25% OFF 5+ ITEMS WITH CODE. eBay is showing the 25% discount price for a single purchase. So misleading and buyers are getting fed up and just not buying as they are expecting a huge discount. Then the lowball offers come in less than 25% off single items. Geeze...

OP8 months agoI had already cancelled my sale but I'm not seeing that glitch on your listings as of now. Do you? Did they fix it?

Apply that coupon code to get that for $7.99. Then you apply the code and ONLY if the buyer has over $100 in their cart (must be in cart, all together for coupons to work) THEN they will get it for $7.99.
If buyer does NOT buy $100 worth, the coupon code will not work.
It's an 'estimated total' IF and ONLY IF they abide by what it clearly states at the top of the page.
You should simply tell buyers that should they expect to get a $10 item for $8...
Hello:
Yes, you will get it for $8 if you purchased $100 or more in items, placed in a cart, then use the code. That amount shown in an 'estimate' , which means just that, an 'estimate' and is being based on you, the buyer, using the coupon which clearly states the top of the page "..buy $100....". Thanks

OP8 months agoIf that's the case, that's misleading, and this erroneously implied/shown discount is a new phenomenon, as we've been doing this sale for over a month and at no point did this occur previously. Already had one buyer ask why his $8.98 purchase wasn't discounted 20% and requested a partial refund, which we'll not accommodate. (Fully refunded instead)
Certainly this will result in continuous similar issues when the buyer is misled into thinking that the discount would apply per item, and posting that reply 6 times a day would just ensure we get slaughtered with negative feedback.

·8 months ago[Edited by Moderator] Each item across the top ALSO states what the 'coupon/deal' is so should a buyer ignore it, it's only on them.

OP8 months ago- Display Errors on Item Pages: The item you linked ]hows an "EXTRA 20% OFF $100+" promotion with the code TWENTYOFF100, and it even previews a -$1.80 discount (which is 20% of $8.99). However, this contradicts the promo's terms, which require a minimum order total of $100 for eligibility.
ebay.com This suggests a visual or preview bug where the discount is incorrectly shown on individual low-value items, even if it's not actually applicable until checkout with qualifying totals. Similar mismatches have been reported where promos appear to apply prematurely but fail during final processing. community.ebay.com +1 - Eligibility and Restrictions Not Met: Many coupons, including this one, have hidden or strict conditions like excluded categories (e.g., certain electronics, collectibles, or sellers), maximum discount caps, or requirements for specific payment methods. If your cart doesn't meet the $100 threshold across eligible items, the code won't apply properly—though it might still show up misleadingly on single listings.
community.ebay.com Users have noted that even when items seem qualifying, the system flags them as "not applicable" due to seller-specific rules or regional restrictions. @_vishyy123 - Technical Glitches During Application: There are widespread reports of codes validating initially (e.g., in cart previews) but failing at checkout or settlement. This could be due to backend errors, like the promo logic not triggering correctly, or anti-fraud measures interfering with orders.
community.ebay.com +1 For instance, some users see error messages like "coupon already used" despite no prior redemptions, or the discount simply vanishes mid-process. simplycodes.com - Account or Device-Specific Problems: Issues can tie to your eBay account (e.g., one-time-use limits reached unknowingly) or even the platform you're using. Switching to the app sometimes resolves app-exclusive offers, but glitches persist across browsers and devices.
community.ebay.com Broader system updates, like eBay's January 2026 changes to promoted listings and order processing, might be exacerbating these by causing stock fluctuations or bot-detection interference.
What This Means for Your CouponThe TWENTYOFF100 promo is part of eBay's active January 2026 deals, advertised across sites as up to 20% off qualifying orders over $100.- Add multiple eligible items to your cart to reach $100+ and test at checkout.
- If it still fails, clear your cache, try a different browser, or contact eBay support (though chat has been called "useless" in some threads).
community.ebay.com - Check the full terms via eBay's coupon help page or the seller's store link from the item page, as exclusions might apply to categories like vinyl records.
If this persists, it's worth posting in eBay's community forums—many users are getting resolutions by escalating there, and it could highlight a site-wide bug for faster fixes.
