MAD magazines, anyone know how to find original post about it?
I posted about having old MAD magazines maybe a year ago but do not know how to find that thread where I got advice.
They are still here among boxes of other stuff that I need to finally do something about or get rid of.
I don't have the years at hand but they are older, bagged but not boarded. Is this something I could put on Marketplace and see if someone local wants them?

First few years were comic book sized: sell individually.
Magazine size: pull out anything with an insert like an iron on or a record sell individually.
Rest group by year.

OP4 months agogot a lot of good advice there. The question is how much effort should I put into them versus offloading in bulk or offer to some dealer willing to look at my unlisted stuff.

·4 months agoPut them on eBay. Unless you have some highly collectible ones, I'd sell them in lots.
I'm sure you could put them on MP and there would be interest, but interested parties would want to buy them dirt cheap.

I don't know what buyers in your area would be willing to pay but where I am, it would be dirt cheap. It's funny because competition is super high, there are so many "resellers" in my area, but nobody wants to pay for anything.
I guess it would depend on how much you are willing to take for them.

OP4 months agoprobably not that much. The boxes are a tripping hazard and nothing else right now. Not sure how much to ask for them.

·4 months agoI checked EBAY sold listing for Mad Magazine and they are selling anywhere from $6-$25 EACH (depending on the issue and year). People love Mad Magazine so it would definitely be worth your time to list them.

·4 months agoIt would be very difficult for me to quit ebay. It is so much of what I do and am comfortable with. Having said that, if I did choose to quit and get rid of everything, I would "try" to sell it all and not look back. I know you are wanting to still try to sell some of your better items because you know they are worth something, but since you don't need the money, that might not help you get rid of everything. Around here, I would need to include better stuff to sweeten the deal enough to get someone to take everything. If they think I've already sold all the good stuff, they will probably not bite.

OP4 months agoI am looking at two categories: listed and unlisted. I won't be in any condition to systematically take the listed books away myself (to the bookstore and/or charity). I did end all the Ospreys but that was 100 out of 2100. I ended another 20 or so special edition fiction to add to the unlisted, maybe worth my time to lot them up here or on MP. So that leaves nearly 2000 to sell to someone.
the other category of unlisted is something I am considering auctioning if there seems to be any point because I do not expect them to be worth anything singly (and since I have stopped listing singly that boat has sailed)
Right now I am trying to prune out stuff and get what's left into one room that I can show to a buyer and explain is unlisted. My husband will be glad to finally get the family room free of boxes.

·4 months agoFor the OP that was something that didn't work well because I was still in 2026 after getting to page 6 of their posts.
Then I had a breakthrough, how many times have I seen "mad magazine" posted here.....not often so I did the search instead and got the result instantly.
