Looking for recommendations on how to respond to this - negative feedback and INR
I shipped an item to a buyer, printed the shipping label through eBay so it was the exact address that the buyer provided, and of course tracking was automatically uploaded.
Tracking shows that the item was successfully delivered promptly.
The buyer opened an INR case and messaged me about it - evidently his shipping address is an office in a large multi-unit office building.
When I sold the item, the buyer did not request any special shipping instructions. I would normally add signature confirmation if a buyer requests it, but he did not request it,
The buyer was quite irate, saying that I should have provided signature confirmation, since the item must have somehow gotten lost in the building's mail room or gone to the wrong suite.
I calmly recommended to the buyer that he contact his local post office and also talk to the mail carrier that serves his building. At the same time, I also opened a "missing package" inquiry with USPS (no response on that yet).
And of course I uploaded the tracking # into the INR case as required. I did this twice just to be certain.
My questions are two fold.
#1 - how should I respond to this negative feedback left by the buyer:
Seller shipped item Via USPS no signature required. Item not received, USPS tracking says delivered to my office mail room which is a secured area with limited key acess only. Seller notified of issue by multiple emails. Sellers position is that it was delivered. If you purchase from this seller and the item is not received by you but USPS said it was delivered you are SOL! Not the way to do business if you are going to ship without a required signature to prove delivery completed.
#2 - eBay still shows the INR case as "open...respond by August 11". Even today (8/18) this message still shows, even though I had previously uploaded the correct tracking to the INR.
The question is, should I ask eBay to "step in and help"...to get this INR closed out? I would have thought that the buyer has to do that.

·2 years agoYour feedback is fine and that neg doesn't even show up on the first page. You can safely ignore it and not waste any more time on the matter.

·2 years agoIf you go to the INR case you can request eBay to step in. They will review it and it will close in your favor as it shows delivered. I do believe any negative feedback received will be deleted then, not 100% on that though. If the feedback isn't automatically gone after the INR case is closed then you can contact eBay for business on facebook and try and get it removed.

·2 years agoThis feedback should be removable because a seller is not required to ship with a signature on an item less than $700. It is not the sellers responsibility to have the buyer provide a safe and proper delivery space. Also, even if he requested a signature you can charge him the extra money as it is an add on and not required. Buyers sometimes think the seller is responsible for all types of stuff that they are not. I had a buyer once go off on me because I shipped it to the address they provided. Turns out that address was an old one that they forgot to change and I should have known that they don't live there any longer, lol.

·2 years agoI am pretty sure everyone who has sold for any amount of time here has had that happen. It is amazing how buyers think a seller should know that they moved last year and forgot to update their address.....and that we should know by some telepathic method what their new address is. People can be insane. It seems nobody is willing to accept responsibility for their mistakes anymore.

·2 years agoNo, it looks like it was less than $75 as he accepted an offer. I was saying that the only time eBay requires a signature confirmation is for items over $750.

·2 years agoGo to your account settings and request to have the feedback removed. I wouldn't even bother responding. Yes, ask eBay to step in and they'll close out the INR. You have nothing to worry about. You're not required to require a signature. It's not like it's standard practice or anything. You've done your job. Breathe easy.
