Local pick up cost me top rated status
This has to be a huge technical issue. I had a customer buy 17 items from me, and they picked it up from me directly, as they don't want the package to be stolen especially with 17 jewelry items. Customer picks up, pays, I marked paid and shipped. Ebay says you have 17 items not uploaded with tracking information. I contact Ebay and they said nothing they can do. They said sell more.
"Let me share that you need to main the rate of this metric to 95% or above, currently it's dropped to 68.74%."
I keep asking Ebay how in the world does one transaction count as 17 strikes against me? There has to be some way to upload some sort of documentation that the item was picked up.

OP1 year agoPS, Had I know this was an issue, I simply could have shipped an item for the $4 and used the same trackign for all the items.

·1 year agoThis is just one example of why we should have a competent customer service team from ebay, No seller should have to suffer loses like this when a proper explanation is given.

·1 year agoThese are the instructions for local pickup
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/local-pickup?id=4181&st=3&pos=1&query=Offering%20local%20pickup&intent=local%20pickup&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1136
This is the relevant section for pickup.
Proof of pickup
Proof of pickup is required to protect you against item not received cases.
For proof of pickup you can:
To scan the QR code:
If the buyer doesn't have the QR code available, ask them for the 6-digit code they received through email and manually enter it in the app.
There are no acceptable excuses for not doing your homework before you list. Unfortunately, you have already discovered that.

OP1 year agoI wish Ebay would have that in the local pick up area like "click here to see how to do" or something. What I don't get is why Ebay isn't allowing me to send a code now to the customer, have the customer approve and then remove the 18 defects I have. I would think that would be a very logical course of action to keep me top rated and selling on Ebay. I have stopped my listings and my store, it's going to take what, a year to remove all of those late shipment uploads? Sigh. It's OK, life goes on. I did Ebay for side money. My big years was 500k in sales, now down to 30k a year in sales. I just wish this wasn't this stressful by Ebay. I mean how hard is it for an Ebay employee to say, "Yeah, one customer picked up 18 items, it should not count as 18 strikes"

·1 year agoYour customer would have received the code from ebay when they chose local pickup and paid. I just had one recently and nothing counted against me when I got the code from my buyer and entered that in the transaction.
I don't understand why you would end all your listings, though, just because you aren't TRS. You should still be rated above average. It probably wouldn't matter much to your sales either way. Some shipping metrics only count back 3 months.

·1 year agoHow long ago was it?
And how accommodating do you think the buyer would be?
I'm wondering if you could select the local pick up for each one and then have the buyer copy & email you all the six digit codes that indicate pick up...
I don't know if it's possible but just wondering..
Anyone think this could work??

OP1 year agoHi,
It was about 2 weeks ago. I have been fighting Ebay and they refuse to help. 18 strikes on one transaction is also frustrating.

Ok..
One last thing... Have you contacted eBay on their Facebook page?
I know that sounds silly but they have very good people there that can often navigate the system.
They are very responsive & might have a solution.
You need to send a message detailing what happened, not a post, a message..

·1 year agoI've always wondered why we even need to go off ebay to get good help?
Any why is it that FB has all the "very good people"....?
Local pick up has always been a hot mess of confusion. I've done it only few times but i try to avoid it. Ebay really should work on this...

I have no idea why we have to go to Facebook... It seems silly but it works.
The reason is; the reps there are English as a first language and actually investigate the issue rather than giving canned answers from a book of popular solutions.

OP1 year agoHi,
I contacted Ebay via facebook, and very quick to reply. They said only the back office can remove and they wont. They said "Just sell 400 items and all will be good in 3 months" Sigh. Top rated for 15 plus years and the back office can't remove this one sale with 18 strikes. I also explained on the local pick up option, I don't see any of this qr code, etc. Sigh.

Sorry to read that..
The buyer should get a code sent to them. There is a QR code but also a six digit code in case QR can't be used.
If you select the local pick up option.. My idea was to have the buyer send you the code they received when they purchased the item as a pick up.
It would be in their messages or email.

OP1 year agoBuyer said they never got email from Ebay, or they would be happy to. Just frustrating, but it's Ebay's business to do as they wish. You would think Ebay's tech people would say "Let's email the customer with a qr code, they approve and all is good" but never got that option. IN fact, every single Ebay message NEVER EVER mentioned how local pick ups work, just "you are such a good customer, so sorry, blah blah blah" Thank you for your suggestion though. And you would think top rated would have extra attention help. Many years I was a 400k seller.

·1 year agoeBay local pickup tracking uses a QR code or a 6-digit code sent to the buyer via email to verify the pickup. The seller uses the eBay app to scan the QR code or enter the code, which then marks the transaction as "Picked Up". This generates an eBay tracking number with a timestamp, which is propagated across eBay's systems. That gets around the tracking requirement but sounds like it didn’t work here or you agreed to local pickup after selling to them?

OP1 year agoHI,
Pick up was after the sale. I think the code would be a great idea, as the local customer certainly is willing to help out. There was no qr code as an option.

·1 year agoDid you offer Local Pickup in the listings? Did the buyer select Local Pickup at Checkout?
That would be the normal way and in that case there would be no negative effect from not having tracking.

OP1 year agoHI,
Yes, we do offer local pick up. I clicked on paid and delivered on Ebay. The customer came into the store, and I clicked the paid and delivered on my end. For local pick up, Ebay doesn't have instructions like some of the suggestions I have gotten. The issue is now I have 18 strikes against me on ONE transaction. Sigh.

I don't see that any of your recently sold listings offered free local pickup.
From what I understand, unless the buyer was offered and chose local pickup at time of purchase, there would be no QR code or 6-digit confirmation number for you enter in order to confirm delivery.
