Listings Disappearing
Is anyone having listings just vanish? Been selling on eBay for many years and just noticed this morning that several (at least 10-15) are just gone. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks

·3 years agoThis will not apply to everyone, but may apply to some posters experiencing vanishing listings:

remove a listing for one of the following reasons:
Typically eBay doesn't notify you when they remove stale listings. On the site for a year or more without any sales, but usually only if the seller has ignored those listings - didn't make any changes to the listing in all that time.

·3 years agoNow you guys got me worried.
How would I know if a listing has vanished?
I can't go by memory. I don't even remember what I had for dinner last night.
I have 250 listings. I know most of you have a lot more.

·3 years agoYes I had one vanish a few days ago. I do hundreds of listings and typically know the active listings count at all times. I would often see it drop by one or two usually because of a GTC ending and relisting itself at the moment. I verify this by going to my active listings and sort by "time left". I am always able to find the missing listing that just got listed in there with like 29 days 23 hrs 59 minutes left. I wait a few minutes and see the listing repopulates into the Seller Hub total and everything goes back to normal.
But in really rare moments, like a few days ago, one just disappears and is nowhere to be found. Nothing is shown in my "ended" listings section, nor did I get any notice of a possible violation and ebay listing removal. It's like the listing never existed. Too bad I'm unable to find out which listing it is by elimination. If I can do that, I'd like to see if the URL to that listing is even still valid.

·3 years ago"Vanished" if you're trying to view the listing itself -or- "Vanished" all together, even from your seller hub?

·3 years ago@inhawaii Mine are gone completely, as if they've never existed.
I did a bit of sleuthing about this on a couple of missing listings. First thing I checked was existence on the site as well as my seller hub (btw, ghost listings will show up on the site and NOT show up in the seller hub...until they've sold (again)). Then I went back into my records to locate when the item was first listed and traced it through subsequent relists - it would disappear from my invoices as well. I also tried a general Google (Bing or whatever) search to try to pick up the listing on replicate sites like Pic-Click - one I found (old, outdated version) one I did not.
Its been a while since I've done this and the invoices have changed a bit, but I still don't find the item on site when it's gone from my seller hub.

·3 years agoVery interesting.
You know people like me who never experience that kind of stuff think you guys are crazy! LOL
But I guess if there are enough people reporting it, it must be true.
How come I never get to experience any of the "fun" stuff? 😉

·3 years agoMine are still for sale on the eBay site I believe because they are showing up on eBay searches, but they are not in my listings on seller's hub and don't show in my eBay store.
I sell sterling flatware and just bought some more inventory of a pattern I already have for sale, so I will just update the number of pieces for sale on an existing listing instead of creating a new listing. I couldn't find it in either my store or my active listings. I thought I was losing my mind, but then did an eBay site search and there they were.

·3 years agoThat's an issue been occurring for about a month. I'm having problems with items not showing up on the seller hub active listings page when using the search function, too. Contact customer service and ask them to add your account to the site wide tech ticket ALERT14435

·3 years agoYes, and it's nothing new. Every season change I go through inventory and Lo! at least five listings missing, and these are not old listings - I don't leave anything listed for more than three cycles. I've had stuff missing after 30 days. I consider it 'free inventory, find the original images and just relist.
My theory is that it's caused by database events where there some kind of interruption to indexing. The same thing that causes the occasional 'ghost' listing.

·3 years agoThere is definitely something whacky going on. I am looking for an item in my seller hub under active listings and it says it isn't available, and when I go out to my eBay store it also says it isn't available. However, when I search eBay I find it with no problem. Additionally, my manage active listings page on the seller's hub says I have 688 listings, while my eBay store says I only have 584. I don't know exactly how many I really have, but I am sure it is north of 700.
I contacted eBay customer service and received a response of it isn't a sitewide issue, but they 'would look into it'. I will update here if I here anything, although they already told me they won't contact me with a solution. Needless to say I am not holding my breath.

·3 years agoSomething to consider.....what is the source of the "number of items/listings" that you are comparing?
If it's the numbers given when you click on "view listings" or similar to see the listings in Search Results format or if you go to your store main page they may never match what you see in the Seller Hub Active Listings.
Two reasons for this are listings with Variations and maybe Multi-Quantity listings. With Variations EACH variation is counted so if you have a T-shirt Variation listing with 6 colours in 6 sizes it would count as 36 "listings" even though it's really one one actual listing.
The other way listings can "disappear" is if you use the Out Of Stock option, a listing that has zero stock will still be included in the Seller Hub Active Listings number but NOT when you view the Search results or Store page.
If you leave an OOS listing continue to run eBay will eventually (about 6 months) end the listing if you don't restock them. It will show up in Ended/Sold or Ended/Unsold, I'm not sure which because I don't track those listings on eBay but rather via third party tools.
I'm another seller that in 24 years has never had a listing just disappear and like @inhawaii I'm not saying it can't happen.

·3 years agoOh jeez...I feel like an idiot. The zero quantity in the active listing is indeed the difference between it and the listings in my store. Wow, can't believe I didn't think of that. Thank you! I am going to go crawl in a hole now...
I notice the number of my items listed don't jive with the number I know I have. But when I go back to check again after a few minutes or so, the number of items is correct.
This is just a guess... It could be that when your items are renewing (Good til Cancelled listings) they drop off until they are repopulated into the site.

·3 years agoFunny you posted this. I was going though my shelves, checking to make sure everything was labeled properly and noticed several items I know were listed now are not listed.

·3 years agoYes I have and I mentioned this to a friend yesterday who also sells and she is experiencing the same thing.
