Listing Hidden No violations eBay agent confirms

I have a few higher end listings that had gotten 0 views over 2 - 4 weeks. So I did a search by putting in the title and they did not show up at all.  Then I paired the search down to  1/2 the title still they did not come up. So I called eBay and inquired about them . The agent confirmed that doing a word search did not bring them up. But a item number would. She checked my account and said no issues and could not come up with an answer.  They have turned it over to technical support. Has anyone had this issue before. I have been pushed down the tree many times over preferred listings but never blocked. This seems to be happening with items in the $2500-$7000 range

You'll have some views now but they'll be meaningless from posting here.   I doubt you're being blocked. Times are changing economically.

The view are from you guys. As I stated  I can force find the listing but  they will not show organically. By word search. I am waiting on ebay . Even the Ebay rep said yes there is an issue but could not say what it was

I see them organically, even in Best Match:

Yeah, I’ve run into that befor. Sometimes it’s just a weird search index thing on eBay’s side. If it shows up by item numbre but not keywords, it’s not usually about your accout or the listing itself. Had it happen to me once and tech had to re-index it. Hope they get it sorted quik.

Want me to also make a slightly more casual version that feels like it’s straight from a seller group chat?

I tried keyword searching (with very basic terms) the only 2 listings you have in that price range, and found them both in the Best Match search results. The Harris radios listing was pretty far down, but the Odom Digibar was easier to find because the results were fewer.

Just a recommendation to improve your placement -- restructure your titles. Example:

    Harris & M/A-Com Mobile Radios, 300-PC Mixed Lot, P7100/M7100, w/ Chargers, More

Many buyers search for "lots" and not "300 Total". It should also help the algorithm identify your listing as such and not assume it's an overpriced single radio. The omitted info (frequency specs, etc.) can be found in your description and wouldn't be keyword-searched anyway, in my opinion. ALL CAPS is not recommended. While I doubt it's hindering search visibility, it's generally better to avoid it.

eBay does not hide listings.  This would not be in their best interest.  Searches are personalized, so your search is different than my search.  You are not going to buy your own item.  By looking at your own items, you are pushing them lower on the search.

Yes they do All the time for many reasons.  Infractions, restrictions, violations. I have none of them.  And If i put the exact title in the search bar it should come up no matter who is looking for it. And It does not  for 10 of my items. As a matter of fact Did you see the new sellers  news. read it it seems eBay will be doing something along this line . Below part of this months sellers news. Sounds like eBay can and will intervene before a sale if they think it is necessary.

    What you need to know

To help keep eBay a trusted marketplace for everyone, we monitor for risk factors that a seller may not be able to fulfill an order as expected. To help minimize potential disruptions for sellers as we complete these reviews, we've improved how we spot and address potential fulfillment issues—helping to keep your business running smoothly and reducing the need for action on your part.

Based on your feedback, we’ve made our review process for potential fulfillment issues more flexible. This way, we can better address your individual situation if any concerns come up.

Before this, if a potential risk was identified, restrictions could be placed on your account or listings while we manually reviewed orders to confirm delivery.

With the revised process, we’ll take a more flexible approach. In most cases, you'll get the chance to resolve the concern before any action is taken. We’ll also use tracking information to automatically release funds once orders are shown as delivered. This change helps prevent account disruptions while maintaining a trusted marketplace for everyone.

You would need to give us the search terms you are using, and the item number you are expecting to find.

There are known reasons why a item might not be found in search, but without that information all we can do is guess which one might be responsible.

244 listings.  It seems many over $1000 are not showing up . If you put in the header  like below it will show  one search returned at the top of the page But does not show any item, (Look at attached pic) that is all you get. It is the same for the other listing that do not show up. I can bring it up from a from the link  below .and it shows  https://www.ebay.com/itm/116717914531  but not when I look with the title  below. I did it from my account and  then went on my sons and it did show up ether. It appears eBay has a block on some  higher end items . They say  nothing is wrong with my account and are looking into it.

    @gregmm,

Items that don't have the search cost defined, are not included in the main search results (unless there are very few results). Both when searching best match, and when searching by the total cost (price plus shipping). Cost is one of the parameters used to determine best match, so if eBay can't calculate the total cost, then the item is left to the end of the list, and is not included in the main search results.

That example you gave, and a lot of your other higher priced items, only have "freight" shipping, so there is no shipping cost that the buyer can see at all. They are shown at the very end of your items for sale (page 4) even when doing a highest-price-first sort like this:

    https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ssn=gregmm&_sop=16&_pgn=4&_dmd=2https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ssn=gregmm&_sop=16&_pgn=4&_dmd=2

The same thing happens when potential buyers are doing a keyword search with best match. Items that don't have shipping at all (pick up only) and items that don't have a specified shipping cost (like freight) are not included in the main search results, but only at the end of the search. Pick up items may show up in the main results, if the item location is close to the buyer's location.

I can also find your high-priced items in a keyword search, as you can see here. This item has local pickup as well as freight ... but notice the shipping to location, which is fairly close to your location.  So it does show up, to potential buyers who are close enough to be able to pick it up.

    https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=34+Meter+tall+steel+tower&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_dmd=2&rt=nchttps://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=34+Meter+tall+steel+tower&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_dmd=2&rt=nc

    Here's another example:

That still has nothing to do with if you look for lets say the  "ngr 34 meter tower" NOT ON MY FEED just looking for one It still will not come up. It will say I item found but will not display it. Per pic I have already posted. below . That is the issue it is not that is is pushed down in the listing or on my feed for any reasons It will not display the item when found.  If you look at my listing numbers it shows 233 when in fact I have 244 showing listed on my end. ebay.jpg

I see that listing in the search, both the 1 result number and the listing itself appears in the sort.

Try disabling your ad blocker to see if that makes a difference. If not, try the same search in another browser to rule out a browser issue.

@gregmm, do you have a shipping to location set in that search? if yes, what is it?

I can' see one, but I can't tell if it is cut off in your screenshot. It should be above and to the right of the "Sort: best match" drop-down.

It is my zip code 48160 . I  changed it to one 180 miles away 43228 with the same  out come.

And Yes I can  find it by work a rounds but people just  doing by word  can not see it. And one on my main markets is  listing things no one else has or it is  vary limited on the higher end. So if you need it you will buy it . Even as I do discount it to about 20 To 50% of market price. I have done this for years and it serves me well. but as few look for it and the ones that do can not see it.ts the 10 that are blocked.

When I search for it under Best Match, I do see what you describe; i.e. it says there is one results found but that item does not display.

But when I search for it using any other sort:

    • Low Price
    • High Price
    • Newly Listed
    • Ending Soonest
    • Distance

Then I see the item displayed correctly.

So I would agree with eBay - there is nothing wrong with your account, and there is no "block on certain items".

It appears to be a glitch with the display of some item in Best Match results only, and eBay technical support should look into it (and probably is).

And I agree with others, the fact that the items that show this behavior only have "freight" list as a shipping method (without a cost) is probably part of it.

Does the item appear in Best Match if you disable your ad blocker?

One difference between Best Match and other sorts is that in Best Match, sponsored listings may only appear once. In other sorts, sponsored listings appear both as a sponsored version and an  organic non-sponsored version in the results. Typically, in Best Match, only the higher-ranked version appears, so sometimes sponsored listings appear and sometimes organic versions appear, depending on the particular search.

In the past there have been issues with some ad blockers blocking sponsored listings from appearing in search results, so if the organic version of the listing is not appearing in Best Match, the listing may not appear at all if an ad blocker is blocking it.

eBay sometimes tries to make it harder to filter out sponsored listings by making sponsored listings look more like non-sponsored listings, and by making non-sponsored listings look more like sponsored listings as well. Sometimes the result is that an ad blocker blocks both kinds of listings.

Which item numbers and how are you searching?

Depending on how you search, your search may be steered into a particular category. If you have listed in another category, your item will not appear in that search by default.

"They have turned it over to technical support."

Nothing will happen in regards to that.

What you can try is ending the listing. Then reword the title. Maybe get some ideas from whatever other listing is available and sold then try to create something that buyers could research easier. Honestly your titles say too much.

It has nothing to do with  someone can not find it due to a poor title  .  You can put in the title just like it is in the listing and at the top of the screen It will say one item found but not display the listing Look at pic below.  That is all you get I have 10 higher end listing doing this. I have closed them then relisted . and they will come up for  part of the day then go back to not coming up. ebay.jpg

How many people are willing to pay $3000 or $4000 for a used piece of electronics via the internet hoping that

a.) they don't get ripped off

    b.) it doesn't get damaged

Also, how 'popular' is the 'thingy' compared to others??

Sometimes there are just items that people will 'see' in a list while perusing and NOT want to actually click on it because of the reasons I stated above, so really not that unusual.
