Limited Time Discount Pricing
I just noticed that the items I have placed on sale for a limited time does not show the sale end time on the ad. A few have watchers and I think they are looking for further price drops. These are 30% discounts. They will be disappointed when the sale ends and the price is back to original with no warning. I have no intention of dropping the price further. Am I missing something? The Capodimonte girl sewing figurine is an example that went from $350 to 262.50.

Never once did I ever look at, care about or take into account the time that a sale was ending.
Most of your watchers are going to fall into 2 categories, they either watch your item and immediately forget about it for the rest of their life. Or they watch the item hoping to be send an offer, and if the offer isn't good enough then they likely also forget about the item for the rest of their life.
Sellers watch items too, but it usually isn't a spying thing, it is most often a bookmark thing so they can go home and press sell similar off your item and then forget about your item for the rest of their life because they were never interested in the first place.

OP1 year agoMore serious issue. I went online which I often do to research my items. I found a false ad on my Capodimonte girl sewing figurine with my ad showing and a further discount coupon title ALI25STYLE. When you click for further details it is China. I am pulling that listing.

·1 year ago@mcdougle4248 is there any difference in sale time span? i.e. 30 day versus 7 day sale?

The sale event, which shows an end date of September 29th, started on September 16th.
The sale event without a specified end date started on September 17th and ends on October 1st. So, both sales are about the same duration.

In my experience, sometimes an end is displayed, other times it is not. This has been going on for a long time. I have never figured out why the end dates are shown on some sale events but not on others. I chalk it up to another eBay mystery 🤣
Here are screenshots of two sale events I am running now...one with an end date, and one without.

OP1 year agoI get neither of those. I will pay more attention next time I do a sale in case I missed someething.

·1 year agoMy sales clocks are working, at least on the few listings I checked.
I did notice some issues about a month ago with the sales clock. I noticed the clock would count down for 24 hours every day of the sale, then reset to 24 hours again. At first I thought I had put the wrong end date on the sale, but I checked, and the date was correct. When the clock hit 0, I refreshed the listing and it was back at 1 day again, even though it was 4 days until the sale actually ended.

That's because time is circular, not linear.

·1 year agoI looked at a couple of your items, and you are right, it's not showing when the sale is ending. The items I have on sale right now are the same way. I know in the past it showed an ending time in red font, but I think it only showed it like a countdown clock for a day or 2 before the sale ended?? I don't know for sure, hopefully someone can chime in and tell us how this works.
As for your watchers, what I do is wait until the day after the sale ends, then send them an offer for whatever the sale price was and type in the message box something like: "my sale has ended, but I wanted to send out these second chance offers to anyone who might have missed an item they were wanting!"
I usually get a decent amount of extra sales that way. Like you said, people always think they might get if for less, but when the sale has ended, if they actually want the item, they'll jump on that second chance.

That's the whole idea. You snooze, you lose.

·1 year agoSome of the watchers are other sellers who will never buy.
Some of those watchers are people who cannot afford to buy at this time.
Some of those watchers will buy the item they want most at the time they have some money to buy and can afford it.
Running a sale need not generate any additional sales. It depends on what you are selling. IMO the interest in many of the items you sell is dramatically less than it used to be, and when collectors of them die there is no one who wants the item.

OP1 year agoI realize collectibles are a tough market but have done reasonably okay. I am researching additions that can compliment them. My question is it normal for sale end dates not to show up on the listing.
