Last 30 Buyers paying up to $100 more on stockx for same sneaker I am selling on Ebay for less?
Why would the last 30 stockx buyers pay 30 times, up to $100 more for the exact same sneaker I have with pictures they can see on ebay?

·2 years agoOne of the simplest reasons is they don't price check and/or trust other sites. I had a Amazon seller that drop shipped a guitar pedal I was selling to his customer. He had his price at $104. Mine was $59.95. The customer could have saved $44!

·2 years agoBecause stockX authenticates. And between the fees and shipping its actually more than the $100 you’re proposing but people want peace of mind.

·3 years agoThere are several articles in online periodicals (such as Wired and OCCRP) about fake auctions being used to move money from one account to another in order to make it difficult for authorities to figure out where the money came from. The name for this activity escapes me, what could the term be?
The DC comics super heroine, Isis, was involved in such a case with an online auction site back in 2015. That site must have been Yahoo Auctions, because we all know there is no fraud on eBay due to the fantastic security and ace customer support.
In such a situation, if a legitimate buyer accidentally won an item of this nature in good faith, the seller would not ship the non-existent item and would not care if the buyer eventually opened a claim against the seller. As long as that buyer keeps his or her mouth shut, the seller would be making too much money illegitimately to care about a real buyer
However, if the buyer snitched to the authorities about $100,000 of these "special sales", the seller would conveniently have the buyer's address. So, the buyer gets a free South American sea cruise and burial at sea "all-in-one" deal. In this all expenses paid vacation, the buyer is separated into ten suitcases that are deposited in ten locations that are ten miles apart in the Gulf of Mexico.
Fortunately, eBay is a the last bastion of morality in commerce as well as a great place to buy colored pencil drawings by Jodi Arias for over $1000. You are safe here. You have nothing to worry about.

·3 years agoFrom my knowledge StockX is way more reliable than eBay when it comes to selling sneakers. It depends what type of sneakers you're selling, but don't you have to send the sneakers to StockX, they authenticate and clean the item, then send it to the buyer?

That might be the reason the eBay sneakers are not selling.
Buyers do not like No Returns policies.
EBay allows them, but remember you can have a No Returns policy, but you cannot have a No Refunds policy.
Also 7.5 is a fairly small man's shoe. Smaller number of potentialbuyers.
There is no problem with an eBay seller having not only multiple IDs here, but multiple accounts on other sites, including AZ and specialized sneakerhead sites.

OP3 years agoWe may cancel purchase on some new E bay accounts. Yes this is a bit negative, but there are a few folks that try to take advantage of Ebay and when ebay loses, the cost will eventually come back to all of us.

OP3 years agoWe do full refunds on all of our clothing and we send back very flawed shoes that we would not wear ourselves, to the vendor. Shoes are becoming very small margin sales and returns on very expensive shoes will put a small shoe seller out of business fast.

·3 years agoWhy do people buy an item here that is being dropshipped from Amazon and paying almost twice sometimes, when they can just go to Amazon and get it a lot cheaper?
They might like Stockx better then Ebay.
They might not shop around to find the best deals.
It sounds better to their friends when they say they bought them at Stockx.

·3 years agoOne potential reason is there are literally thousands of potential buyers who have heard of or done business with Stockx in the past. Those same thousands of buyers have never heard of rsport119. In one of my main categories I sell in there are 3 sellers who ALWAYS sell things for at least 5x more than anyone else.

I have/had two lighters. Both of them flip-top, same brand, same year. Both advertising. The only difference was the advertising. One was/is in almost new condition. The other one had scars. After having a chat here on the board about raising prices to sell. I decided to try it. The lighter with scars I list at 19.99. The one that is almost perfect I listed at 9.99. The 19.99 one did not last a week. The 9.99 one is about to get pulled and put in a junk box. This is a one-time example. I don't normally have the same stuff to try it with. But in this one instance it worked.
Just my two cents.

·3 years agoIf I were you, I'd start selling on Stockx, whatever that is. Sounds like that is where the $$ & buyers are for your product.

·3 years agoI am not familiar with "stockx" but given the 1000's of ecommerce sites it is highly possible that the people who made those purchases on stockx do not have an eBay account or do not shop on eBay. If they are selling for more than what you have them listed for on eBay I would consider selling them on stockx if you can.

My wife and I do use stockx, and other shoe sites to help price shoes in real time to give buyers a fair market rate when possible, if not better sometimes. 30 sales with a shoe going for more than we have priced has some bearing on what a pair of shoes should sell for. I know stock x has aprox 50% business that in not in the US, but certainly more folks can open an ebay account to saver $40-$100. These folks on stock x could be laundering money for all I know, so I was asking for advice.

Their customer service can't be much worse than the eBay customer support center these days. If it's not a viable platform you may want to try looking for others. I moved away from eBay as my sole selling venue long ago and now only sell less than 20% of my items on eBay.
Some people will just NOT shop on eBay or open an account for any number of reasons. As a seller I tend to look for those venues where the shoppers buy. Shopx's having a large percentage of non-US business may have something to do with the fact that they are an India based company.

I believe StockX makes you use twitter for faster customer service, sorry that just does not work for me. Thank you though. Quite understandable. Personally shoes and clothing are a couple of the items I would never buy online. I prefer to go to a B&M store in my local area of which there are hundreds within a few miles, and try the items on for size and comfort. I fully understand that not every consumer has that luxury and some consumers can be in VERY remote locations.

·3 years agoDon't knock yourself out trying to figure out out why people are buying the same thing from someone else for more money. I have actually come on these boards before asking - why are people buying from me instead of buying the same item cheaper from my competitors.
As the Doors song goes "People are strange".
Don't worry about it. If yours are priced fairly they will eventually sell.

·3 years agoWell, I can offer a thoroughly unprovable opinion about which I do not what can be done.
You have 346 listings of which 25 are sneakers. But when I bring up our listings I have to scroll about half way down the page before I see even your first sneaker listing. What I see is an abundance of shirts, shorts, jackets, etc. It is only because I knew in advance that you had sneakers listed that I kept looking. I wonder if other viewers, seeing a long list of shorts, shorts and jackets assume that you don’t have sneakers and simply stop looking.
When I go to the general search and enter “air jordan†I get over 350,000 listings. If I narrow it down to “air jordan 14†I still get over 25,000 listings..
Something about needles and hay stacks comes to mind.

OP3 years agoMy wife has an Ebay account too, and we usually sell sneakers fast enough, but this is rare designer bape adidas sneaker. Not many on ebay and I have the only size 7.5. There are only 14 left on StockX and the last 30 sales paid aprox $40-$100 more than mine.

·3 years agoIt sounds like you fell into the same trap many sellers on Ebay do. Checking other sites and books values of items will never work on Ebay. Go to SOLD items here on Ebay because that is the site you are using. Out of the last 90 pairs sold 85 have sold for LESS than YOUR asking price.

OP3 years agoShoe size usually has a good amount to deal with what a shoe sells for. I see many shoes sell with many more flaws than other as well. Size 7.5 is a more valuable shoe on a bape adidas. I checked terapeak and only saw 5 of these shoes selling, none in this size and I have already sold one for almost this exact amount.

OP3 years agoI have the only size 7.5 adidas bape sneaker on ebay. If some one is looking for a bape adidas and I have the only size 7.5 mens and there are only 14 left on StockX, I am deeply vexed.

OP3 years agoIn many cases a 7.5 is the smallest the adult version of a shoe, and younger men and many women wear that size, and is usually sold out quickly. The 7y or 7 year old sneaker shoe is made a little different that the adult version. This is what we experience most often.

OP3 years agoTo clarify ,30 stockx buyers paid up to $100 more for a size mens 7.5 sneaker I am selling for less on Ebay with actual pictures. We have very good reputations on our ebay accounts.

·3 years agoAlways raise the price unless you're objectively way too high. I had a widget I had listed for like 4 months. Ive got like a dozen of them. I kept dropping the price. They sell regularly all thru this price range. No sales. I sell TONS of them in every other variety but none of this exact one.
I raised the price on this one 27% and sold 1 a few hrs later and another next day.
I raise prices regularly to INCREASE SALES... and guess what...IT WORKS
Always raise your price.
There are two types of people on EBay. Those who will pay for "quality" (a.k.a. pick a higher priced one ASSUMING its better quality) and those who are bargain hunters. I rather sell to those who LITERALLY WANT to pay a premium. They are happy and so am I!

·3 years agoThat is a very keen observation on here. Many may think you offer an inferior product based on your price so they go for the more expensive. I regularly do that myself trusting in that factor at times. It’s the “you get what your pay for mentalityâ€, this to be used to possibly increase sales. Also, you do not want your items sitting in a cluster way below other similar items in the search. They should be grouped in a way that they all are in a similar slot in the search. I have been hesitant to increase prices across the board on this because of the economy right now but my recent up the price sale just proved me wrong.

And what are "stockx buyers"?
