    Keep getting same scam

back to back scam, really dunno how to prevent it since its different accounts.

Item purchase shipped to address and immediately ask for return.

Item shipped to South Carolina then return package is from TX.( a small polymailer)(original Item was 10lbs)

Happen 3 times now. 2twice this month once last year. Same MO.

when I got a facemask returned by a scammer the scammer was aided and abetted by the USPS who sent the fraudulent return  covid mask on a Grand  Tour that took so long to be get to me that I was forced to refund a week before I knew that I had been scammed.

No, he said in message 4.......which I thought I had read, but couldn't "see" it when I went to look.....

I follow everything by the book, I win the cases but it wasted time and energy to deal with them. Especially if it keeps happening with person using different account....

Almost sounds like a "ring"/group.  I would try to report the delivery address/es to USPS and or Fed Fraud line.....if they are targeting you, they are trying it with others........

We don't know that yet.  There hasn't been a ruling on the Appeal.  I've seen sellers win this when they prove that what was shipped back could not possibly be what they shipped to the buyer.  The best way to prove this is a picture of the package that was returned to the seller, best before they open it.  The weight on the package / label / shipping details of the carrier.

This seller has one additional thing to show, which is the item was return from an address they did not ship to.

    I won the 1st one.

Second one is waiting for return to time out as buyer is NARU. So expecting case to close as case cannot be escalated

3rd one is ongoing with Ebay FB Support as of right now.

This may or may not help you depending on the details of these scammers. ðŸ‘‡

I don't know if this would help or hurt your stats but maybe instead of shipping out 1 day, print the label (same day) and wait for the 2nd day to take to the post office. If these are happening within 12 hours (assuming) of when you are shipping, maybe adjusting how you operate may help?

I would agree that contacting eBay sooner than later is a good idea. I found the Facebook eBay group to be responsive and helpful in many cases.

They only happen the day its delivered. So by then its too late.

I follow everything by the book, I win the cases but it wasted time and energy to deal with them. Especially if it keeps happening with person using different accounts.

Its not the process is the problem.

I wanted to share to see if any other preventions of this issue.

    @funfactorychannel   Block the buyer https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock

Then if a new user ID with the same address buys from you,, you can cancel the sale and report them for circumventing the block.

    Sorry this is happening..

its not the same address each time. but same MO, returns are from TX but buying is different address.

it is almost like a dropshipper buys and then returns to keep their money.

    That certainly does complicate things.

What about the return address? Is that always the same?

Hmm. Something else to check. Go here:

    https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord?filter=status%3AALL_ORDERS%2Ctimerange%3ACURRENTMONTH

and click "Download report". Use a spreadsheet program to open the .csv file, then compare the Buyer info (name, address, etc) columns with the Ship To info columns for those two scam orders from this month. Anything jumping out at you pattern-wise?

they used different address. Most likely not their real address since they dont expect item to return to them they can use any random Texas address to get away with it.

The only concrete clue is where the money is deposited in ebay to bank.

Did you report the buyer to Ebay?  If you didn't, you should.

    https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/resolving-buyer-issues/reporting-issue-buyer?id=4084

You should also contact Ebay BEFORE refunding.  Make sure you get the information on the package that was returned to you vs the package you sent.  The weight is really important.  This is information you should be sharing with Ebay along with it came back from an address you did NOT ship it to.  Both points are EXTREMELY important.

Please come back and tell us how it went.

On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

    https://twitter.com/askebay

    https://www.facebook.com/ebay

    https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.
