Just want to double check about this refund
So for a REMORSE return ("Just didn't like it") I can withhold the original shipping from the refund, like the default setting is, with the toggle switched 'off' ..... and eBay will credit back the FVF's ...RIGHT? It's only with INAD returns that withholding the original shipping voids the FVF credit, RIGHT?
I just want to be sure, because ever since this buyer filed the return (waited over a week to ship the item back) I've had this hold on my account, for the FULL $41, not $41 minus 13% FVF's.

·4 months agoYes. It will always show what the FVF credits are or are not when you punch in the numbers before actually processing the return.

Just to be clear, that screen I showed in msg 8^ is after already going through a couple steps that aren't the true "OK" to give the refund.
First there's the notification that the item has been delivered, a blue button saying 'Proceed to refund' or something similar
Then there's the screen I showed in the OP. As you can see, it doesn't indicate anything about fee credits, and there's another blue button to Refund (below where I cut the screenshot off).
Only after clicking that button do you reach the screen in msg.8.
That's why I was just a bit hesitant.
Also because I once lost my fee credits for withholding original shipping on an INAD refund a couple years ago. It was a silly decision I made to blow off steam because the buyer's claim was totally false and she didn't even have to do it, since I had free returns. But the disturbing thing there was, the option to refund original shipping was ALSO defaulted to 'no.' That's why I've tagged wastingtime101 on this today, because I remember he was one of the people kind of perturbed along with me, because it almost seemed like entrapment on eBay's part. There shouldn't even BE an option to withhold that, but there it was, and the default setting too. We tagged Blues and all. Can't remember what happened after that, but my loss of fee credit was more money than the few bucks I kept for that shipping label, and I had no idea that would happen. I knew withholding part of the item's price voided fee crediting, but not withholding the original shipping.

I just remember the return screen mathing all the math for me on the 50% refund deduction (less FVF refund) well as the the regular ole original shipping deduction on a remorse.
I don't deduct original shipping on the small remorse returns but will do it on the heavier/UPS type shipments.

OP4 months agoI did pay for the return shipping label. That's not what I'm asking about -the original shipping that the buyer paid to get the item from me to them.

·4 months agoI wouldn’t even classify that as a deduction, it’s simply not required to be included in the refund amount. We do that regularly, if the return was not our fault, and they simply changed their mind or some other buyers are most recent, there’s no reason for us to be out that shipping cost as well.

·4 months agoYes, you can retain the original shipping without any hit to your fvfs for remorse. They hit us with no fvf refund if we report and keep a percentage of the refund for faulty returns. It isn't an option to retain the original shipping on not as described returns.

OP4 months ago@fern*wood I've got no reason to report the buyer or withhold any of the ITEM'S price. It was returned perfectly intact, in the same condition. I'm only talking about the original shipping that the buyer paid to get the item from me to them.

OP4 months ago@fern*wood It WOIKED! Btw, if it seems weird that I don't know this stuff for certain already, even though I have free returns I get them extremely rarely. And there was one time when withholding the original shipping cost me the credits but I guess that must have been an INAD. But that also had the default set to 'don't refund' it, which seemed incredibly messed up, as @wastingtime101 may recall.
