·8 months agoThat's what my backyard usually looks like this time of year. Not this year, only around 5" of snow last month and it's supposed to start getting warmer by the end of the month. Unlike alot of other folks I want more moisture (snow=fluffy rain) before spring. Not getting it means more work having to water earlier in the year and a more dangerous fire season...................

That order took care of a son and grandson. The knife was for me.
I told my wife what all I bought and she said, "oh great, couple of less things for me to do", she was pleased that I actually shopped for someone......
ADDENDUM: I just got my first sale since Friday. Friday was excellent. Then crickets until now.

As for other platforms? Those are hopping! Sales from NC, WV, LA, TX, NY to name a few. Even had a random OR. When it comes to eBay though? Crickets.

·8 months agoSomeone woke me up this morning by purchasing 42 coins (The phone went nuts). I got up to see what the fuss was about, crazy sale over $750.
Anyway eBay told him he owed me $350 for shipping which he wasn't going to pay, he asked for an invoice, gave me a chance to break his order into reasonable sized shipments that Stallion Express can insure. The $750 limit is on the entire order, not everything the customer spent that day, eBay says it's fine to break it up for invoicing if the buyer agrees.
Customs has a limit on how much they can do in a day for one customer (although that might have gone away with de minimis ending), so my plan is to keep the shipment to less than that, and ship each package when the previous one clears customs so no two packages are stuck at customs at the same time.
There's no tariffs on what he bought, all should be good.

The snow comes at noon tomorrow. Not looking forward to it, there's a lot, we don't own a snowblower (didn't seem necessary given the size of our driveway), I'm not supposed to be shovelling because I already slipped and fell on the ice once this week (no broken ribs but it really hurts to take deep breaths).
I think it's -22C out there, not sure what this is in F degrees... maybe -10 or -15?

OP8 months agoSin, I know the reason you sold all those coins is
100% The weather.
I just know it.
You've single handily proven all the nay-sayers wrong.
It's the weather.
sin-n-dex
·8 months agoMaybe they were shopping due to the weather... but I think the craziness with silver might also have something to with it (as the reason those coins were picked as opposed to other stuff in the store). Thing is, those coins are still higher than melt, lots of stuff is falling below melt because I can't keep up on repricing.
Anyway whatever the reason, I'm going to enjoy the sale. So far everything is going as planned, so long as USPS or Stallion doesn't lose one of the packages and the customer is happy with the coins, then all will be good.

OP8 months agoI saw a video of a dealer, It might have been at the F.U.N. show that the
silver sellers are paying 8-9-10 $$ below spot and still buying more than
they can get rid of.
How are you supposed to find buyers for generic silver rounds at $100 per?
I lived thru the first "Silver rush" back in 1979-1980 and remember
very vividly the drop from $52.00 in March of 1980 to about $3.50 in 1991
sin-n-dex
·8 months ago1991 was when I was old enough to start buying coins... I remember prices around then when I started collecting, but generally I bought silver at under $20 an ounce.
It's not good to be hoarding silver right now, the smelters are not taking silver from a lot of people and those that do put you on a delayed payment plan where you get your money 2-3 months later, and if the price drops in that time, then that's what you get for your silver. No immediate sell and make money now.
It's at around $99 USD an ounce right now, the question is how much more is it going to go up before it drops? What goes up must come down. I sold some silver when it was around $60 an ounce because I was afraid the price would fall, that was in October/November time frame. I made money on what I sold, so I shouldn't complain. Dealers I know are ditching all their silver to crazy buyers to not sit on it in case the price falls.

·8 months agoI think the OP made sense. Ebay business picked up for a lot of sellers when people were confined during the pandemic.
2, 3, 4 days or a week is a drop in the bucket as compared to the pandemic, but hey, let them spend.
I am more than likely gonna spend some money myself.
sin-n-dex
·8 months agoSomeone (or some people) are watching a ton of low priced banknotes in my store... they are eligible for offer, but there's something like 80 banknotes under $3 being watched and I don't want the fallout of someone buying them one at a time. I think I will run a quick sale to encourage whoever is watching to purchase.
Aside from the great big sale that woke me up on Saturday, it's been reasonably quiet, but I was packing all of Thursday and Friday's orders yesterday, today I have auctions ending (other account).

·8 months agoSilver mining becomes more expensive because miners have to go deeper and demand for silver growing faster than supply…silver have more practical uses than gold , especially when people expect economic collapse and/or civil war…gold at today’s prices is not practical and affordable for most people, so out of 3 precious metals, platinum, gold and silver, the last one is a logical choice…hopefully we will not get to this point when one silver/gold coin buys a loaf of bread, or , worse, not even precious metals going to have any real value and use…

I remember that show. I didn't watch it regularly .. but enough to know that it was set in Chicago. I remember the opening scene was from here. I had no idea where it was filmed so I just looked it up (thinking I wouldn't find much) but I sure did. While I don't live exactly in that area, I am very familiar with it! I was so surprised to see it was Edgewater... I was sure it was one of the downtown highrises. My aunt & cousin lived in Edgewater while I was growing up, in one of those buildings (it was a group of 4 different ones) and I spent many holiday dinners there.. My next door neighbor in my current bldg. just moved there last spring. The buildings are all still standing.
Chicago has a lot of high-rises, so while I'm not next door, I'm not all that far either.
Here's the article ... and a video of the opening scene which I loved seeing again!

I've never been to Chicago, but would love to go one day. I've heard it's even better than NYC at Christmastime, if that's possible.
I binged the show a few years ago, after watching it as a kid, and laughed all over again.

Yes come visit, especially if you've never been here. Chicago is such a fun city ... I guarantee you'll have a good time. There's so much to do here, there's something for everyone .. and the food is great!!! Very important LOL. Just be sure to check the weather reports before you book a flight. 😉
It finally stopped snowing but it's still a brutal 3 degrees not counting the wind chill. But it wasn't nearly as bad as NY this time. We're usually the ones with all that snow.
But I'm always optimistic once we're past January.... spring is around the corner... 🌻 🌻 🌻
