Just Got a Buyer Scamming Me, Help!
First this is mostly my fault. I didn't trust my instinct and didn't check on buyer feedback.
Basically buyer brought a seal rare WATA CIB game for over $1k. I brought this game when I was a teenager back in the 90s. I had it graded and seal up for authenticity and condition. WATA graded it as 9.6 and took pictures of the content prior to grading as reference on the grading order.
I've provided all pictures of what WATA (professional 3rd party grading company) took and the grade and the seal WATA game.
So about a week ago a buyer brought the game. I immediately mailed it out same day as the purchase with his name and address. After shipping it out, I took a look at his feedback and notice he had zero. No purchase history for a whole year since the account got created. My instinct shot up and realize this look like a scam account and I set myself up. My instinct tells me this account was going to claim he didn't get it or what he got wan't right. I just knew it with the zero feedback.
Been tracking the package.
Sure enough the day it arrives, he sent a request for refund claiming it wasn't authentic and that the item inside the seal WATA case isn't the right condition. He forcibily cracked open the case. You know how hard it is to crack a WATA case?
Now he file a refund on a crack open case.... I file a report on him immediately. With buyer protection. what are the chances of ebay helping on this?

·1 year agoPlease post dead beat buyers screen name so we all can block them. I recently got scammed for Xbox one project scorpio system. He gutted it with his crap parts and took mine good parts. He switched out my cables with cheaper versions. Fredchri-80 is his screen name.
Ebay are crooks and let this happen and the buyer openly admitted he swapped my cables with others. They didn’t want to help and told me to call the police over this. Ebay will lie to get you to send shipping label as I was promised full refund and shipping refunded. I escalated it to BBB.org and when you do this ebay tends to help you more. I was able to get the system back , $180 which I was scammed out of and my shipping money. They told me this is a one time only because I have a great standing account. Call ebay and if you have no luck with 1st, 2nd, 3rd customer service agent keep calling as I have got help from one when 3 or so won’t help you. I’m scared to list my graded video games as the buyer always wins.

·2 years agoThe good news is, if it comes back swapped or in worse condition than your grading, you can appeal to eBay as long as you have your WATA pics and info to compare. Also, you may be able to deduct your shipping costs also.

OP2 years agook least there is some hope. Next time I need to follow my instinct. Just greed of getting a sale for money... I have to figure out how to make it so buyers with zero feedback don't bid on these things.

·2 years agoThat's not possible.
Ebay isn't going to let sellers block new buyers.
kensgiftshop
·2 years agoNot on an INAD.
Ebay might give a small credit to help with the return shipping.
I think it's like $6.
chphan
OP2 years agoLOL $6 ain't much. I will have to use FedEx and get it back to me asap and that will cost a lot more.
I'm really mad and disappointed at myself. I should have check his profile instead of just rushing home and shipping it off before post office close. I wanted to be quick on shipping.
Soon as I saw the zero feedback later, my instinct just knew something was going to be wrong when it arrive which was why I was tracking it day by day. this will be a major lesson learn from me to follow your instinct and not just blindly let greed of a sale get me.

·2 years agoYou are supposed to send the item back in the same condition as sent. I would fight this on the cracked case point. It is your only shot.
chphan
OP2 years agoYes as long as it's not crack I don't care and will refund asap.
The fact he claims that it's not authentic and not in right condition despite it's a seal WATA case means he cracked it open. I can't resell a crack case unless I get it regraded.

·2 years agoFor a remorse return, yes.
Not so much for an INAD.

There have been people here who've recounted how they've actually won INAD cases.
There was one just recently.
I would follow eBay procedure so as to get your item back and refund the buyer. Do it within the proper time frame so you don't screw that part up.
But then I would also follow up with eBay. Someone here is always posting ways to contact an actual eBay employee -- I believe you can do that through Facebook or the Instagram account "Ebay for Sellers."

OP2 years agoCan I file a report on him later if the stuff I got back isn't the same as the one I sent out which I believe it won't be? I already got the pictures of the content and condition that is store on WATA website prior to grading. Plus I know what it look like before I sent it for grading.
This is my fault I know. My greed in wanting to make a sale and shipping it off right away. I just took his name and email address. I should have follow my instinct more and realize something was wrong. No feedback making a $1k purchase. The fact he crack the case means I will have to get it regraded too assuming if what he sent back is legit. Ppl don't buy a $1k WATA game to crack it open day one soon as they get it.
Will ebay not even take into account he crack it open hence he's not even sending it back in the condition it was sent to him?
kensgiftshop
·2 years agoThey do if they want to check and make sure it's legit.
You'd be surprised how many buyer come back a year or two later saying the had their item checked and found out it was fake.
No, that won't matter, when they file an INAD.
chphan
OP2 years agoSure but I brought this game day one when it came out and it's legit. No one else owns it before hand. So he is saying I'm wrong and WATA is wrong too.... makes no sense that he is better than myself and WATA. I can understand if I brought this from someone else prior but it's been with me since I was a teenager.

·2 years agoTbh, absolutely none. If he returns it he'll get a refund, if he ships a brick back eBay will refund him. And yes the slabs are very hard to crack open. Sorry it happened to you.
chphan
OP2 years agoSo he shipped back with the items swap out so I still lose out on it. Will ebay not even look at the fact it's a dummy account for over a year with zero feedback?
chphan
OP2 years agoMy main concern is the swamping out part.
kensgiftshop
·2 years agoA year with no feedback doesn't make it a dummy account.
They might not buy much.
Sellers might not leave feedback.
They could ship back a dog turd and you would have to refund.
After refunded, you can report the buyer if they ship back a different item.
janet9988
·2 years agoNo, ebay will not look into it.
You need to sell cheap things on ebay.

·2 years agoIf you fight this you will lose.
Ebay will end up refunding the buyer with your funds and you will receive a serious defect.
The best thing for you to do is accept the return.
Pay for return shipping.
( I assume you want the item back.)
When you receive the item back refund the buyer.
