July's Monthly Chat--How many have tried the new Social Tool?
I see this month's Monthly Chat on July 12th "will be discussing the new Social page for store sellers in the Seller Hub."
How many here have actually used this feature?
If you aren't familiar with it, it can be found (if you have a store) by going to Seller Hub, Store Tab, and click on Social. It provides a way to connect your ebay store to your social media business accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Twitter had been also available, but appears to have been quietly removed, without explanation. Supposedly, there are plans to add more sites in the future.

·3 years agoIs it only if you have an eBay store?
I don’t.
I’m active on Instagram which I love 💕

OP3 years agoAt present, this is only for sellers with stores. I believe ebay has indicated it might be extended to other sellers eventually.

·3 years agoI do not know.. I do know that the store is the only thing that post differently.
I barely have time for Facebook.

·3 years agoJust more of our information being shared and sold for additional profit ($$) that we don't get and then causing us to deal with more constant scam / spam e-mails, txt, and phone calls.
I only stay on eBay, but it does not matter. I can search the net and I will get pop-ups of either my personal listings / photos or listings that I have viewed recently.

·3 years agoI noticed eBay has provided no documentation on what the facebook posting looks like.
I thought the newsletter had possibilities until I realized it really was nothing more than a sales campaign.
Do I get to say more than "buy my stuff" when I post a listing to facebook (and can I post multiple listings)?
mcdougle4248
·3 years agoYes, you have a place to enter the text that will appear on your Facebook post. Yes, you can post multiple listings. As far as I have figured out, each listing must be posted individually though.

I started using the Social tool on June 18th. I am mainly using it to share my variation listings because the collage photos that I upload to my variation listings display better (not cropped) on the assigned social media page (I only use Facebook and Pinterest) when I use the Social tool. As you can see in my screenshots below, I have had an increase in external views since I started using the Social tool. I am not sure if the increase is directly related to the Social tool, however, it appears as though it is providing positive results. I still need to figure out how to increase my eBay page views.

Your stats are interesting.
Have you used the Social Analytics tool ebay provides? (The button right below "Create Post" on the Social page.)

Yes, I have used the View Analytics button. My graph has no data for the past 30 days. That is why I am unsure about exactly where the recent uptick in external site views is coming from. I am also still using the Share link on listing pages, so maybe that is the source for some of the external site views. I am just happy to see an increase in external site views. Hopefully, it will drive sales.

OP3 years agoMaybe it's glitchy? Seems like you ought to be seeing some data....
One thing I plan on suggesting at the Monthly Chat is that the ebay Community Team provide us with a dedicated Social Media Discussion Board where ebay sellers who have social media questions or want to exchange tips can do so. I've made the suggestion before, but no harm in trying yet again LOL
I would also like to see ebay's Social media page provide some helpful guides. I have a FB page, for example, but haven't really used it and haven't developed a following. ebay's Social Media page doesn't really provide any advice or insights on how to do that, and without a following, you might as well not post to SM.

Yes, I thought there may be some kind of reporting issue with the data, or lack thereof in my case.
I like your idea for a dedicated board and for eBay to provide some helpful guides. I have never felt confident with the posts I make. I am positive I have lots of room for improvement.

·3 years agoI used it, I like it. It is limited.
The issue I have is that in all the other share links, there is no way, that I have found, to share to the same page. If I choose to share an item or my store from the links on the page, the links go to my home account. Then I have to find them and re-share them to the page that the social is linked to.
It would be VERY NICE, if all the shares went to the same place,
my-cottage-books-and-antiques
OP3 years ago@pennysdream I'm not sure I'm following you. Are you using the social media "share" links on the view item page? Or are you using the tool I mentioned above (which can only be accessed from Seller Hub)?

·3 years agoSorry, my bad.
I use the social button in the store menu, those posts go to my Facebook business page. Hunky Dorey.
When I use the share link on an item or my store front page, those links go to my personal page. Not to my Facebook business page.
Did that make better since?

I do not know if this will help, however, when I share my listing to my Facebook business page from the listing page, I use the drop-down menu to share on a page I manage. Doing it this way the "share" goes to my Facebook business page.
pennysdream
·3 years agoI will check that out, thank you!

·3 years agoI do not get the same options as you do.
So this is probably a setting issue, maybe?
mcdougle4248
·3 years ago@pennysdream
Shoot, I set mine up so long ago that I cannot remember how I did it exactly. I think there used to be an area in eBay account settings under Personal or Business info where one could link their social media accounts. I just poked around and do not see that option now. Sorry.

·3 years agoTHANK YOU SOOOO Very much for trying.
At least now I know it is a me problem.
my-cottage-books-and-antiques
OP3 years agoClick on "share in a group" and see if that brings up your FB business page. Maybe you set it up as a Group?
I think the issue is probably a FB issue, not an ebay issue. It probably has to do with how you set up your FB business page to begin with
pennysdream
·3 years agoNo, it brings up my group. I did not have a business page until "Social" came along. To use social, you have to have a business page.

·3 years agoI do not.
There is a new error message when I tried to post this. It says I must post at least 10 characters. I like this change.
