I've been having this issue all week. I have buyers opening item not received cases before the item is even due to be shipped. I changed the handling time on our items to three days since shipments are often delayed this time of year. I wanted to try to avoid returns for items arriving late. I have items that were ordered on Friday the 16th that are due to be shipped today Dec 21st. The order is showing that estimated delivery is Dec 17th-21st. How do they expect items to be delivered before they are even shipped? It's also now nearly impossible to contact support. eBay is just trying to get some extra sales before Christmas to make their numbers look better for the quarter at the expense of sellers who will have extra returns and buyers who will be disappointed

·3 years agoHi, I thought I was dreaming when 1 of my buyers did this in december. Ive been on ebay for 8 years and typically these cases couldnt be opened until after the expected delivery date has passed. I cancelled the order. There was no way I was going to ship my item and have this crazy company refund them too. Once a case is opened, ebay provides a date the item must be delivered by. If it is not delivered by that date or the date extended, Ebays system will automatically default to "the buyer contacted us for help" and refund them. Which is not true. Over the years Ive had about 5 of these happen this way. (Not the case opening before shipping, that is something entirely schemed up in December) Four of my customers had to pay me via paypal and 1 of them just disappeared with my merchandise and didnt pay me. Ebay refused to honor the seller protection even though they saw that the items had been delivered. They told me I had to try to get my own payment outside of the platform. Isnt that crazy? Encouraging customers to ask for payment outside of the platform(performing actions against their own policy) and risk being conned by someone. Another thing I have always hated is they show the buyer an estimated delivery date. I certainly wish they would stop doing this. I love selling on the platform but its a nightmare if you ever need to contact customer service. The most useless, unhelpful, time-wasting opportunity in a person's life is experienced at the hands of ebay's customer service.
