I've been banned!
Well, restricted for a day, from listing items, due to policy violation.
Wanted to know what I did. 20+ years and ever been restricted so I asked.
The answer I got?
I would like to inform you that due to increase in request of policy updates, reports on account being compromised and other policy issues such as Item Location policy and basic listing practices. eBay has initiated a review on our member's account and this was the only reason why the account got restricted. We are open to changes for the better experience of our members which is why we are doing a collective review which would help us in analyzing any issues faced by our members better. You need not worry, your account will be in good standing very soon as the 1 day restriction was placed yesterday.

·2 years agoThis has become a fairly standard practice of reviewing a sellers account. In the vast majority of cases the account is reopened in a few days to a week.

·2 years ago"increase in requests for policy updates" - say what? "reports of account being compromised"? by whom?
What a mishmash. Why can't ebay ever just be straight forward?
gurlcat
·2 years agoWho is the "I" who answered your question, and where/how did you ask? Their grammar doesn't even make sense (" ..... a review on our member's account" as opposed to members' accounts? or did they literally mean just one member's account -and that member was you, but they're talking about you as if it's someone else?).
But if (?) I understand the message correctly, they're saying your listing capacity is suspended for a day while they take a look at your extant listings. Kind of like when a website says their site will be down "for scheduled maintainence". It sounds like they're saying there was nothing about your account in particular that triggered this "review". But if that's true, why isn't anybody else getting it?
Oh, and at first you said "for a policy violation" so where did you see that? And it just said "a policy violation"???
Something is really fishy here.

OP2 years ago@gurlcat , The "I" would be the eBay rep via chat customer service. The one who I was talking to via chat here on eBay.
Restricted for one day due to a policy violation was the flag at the top of the page when I would hit submit.
It's legit eBay. Just sort of makes no sense.
I gave her/him a little leeway for grammar on all that. LOL

·2 years agoWhat did the original notification say? What you posted sounds like a reply to a follow up question you made.
The whole things reads like a fake message. I'm also wondering how you managed to create a new listing yesterday if you were restricted?

OP2 years ago@slippinjimmy ,
I tried to list an item and when I hit submit, big red banner at the top.
You have been restricted from listing items for one day due to a policy violation.
I stayed on chat for 45 minutes asking What was the violation. So that I don't make that mistake again.
Two or three representatives later? I got that answer that I copied and pasted.
An answer that makes very little sense to me.
Yesterday? Is what I asked also.
They came back with "I'm sorry, Today, time differences"

·2 years agoHow are your ratings for Seller level?
There is also this survey when someone does a Feedback. I think these ratings can be used for a suspension. There is another question if Free Shipping was not use. It ask how reasonable were the Shipping Cost.

OP2 years ago@stephenmorgan , pretty much awesome across the board.

·2 years agoSorry that was all I can think of.
Can you post the entire Chat and or Messages and put several spaces between any comments you want to add?
Sometimes it helps the see the total, exact communication and then maybe someone may know something more to offer.

·2 years agoWould be nice if they said what policy you violated. That answer is so wordy it looks like GPT wrote it.

·2 years agoI wouldn’t have any idea why you got restricted. If you were banned you wouldn’t have any active listings.
