Starting May 13, 2026, eBay is removing the option for U.S. buyers to cancel auction orders after winning.
Honestly, it’s about time. I’ve personally dealt with a lot of cancellations from buyers who won and then backed out. It gets old fast, especially when you’re running auctions seriously.
Will this fix everything? No. Buyers can still just not pay—but at least this is a step in the right direction. Over time, between unpaid item strikes and account consequences, it should start discouraging that behavior too.

·4 months agoThat would be the whole idea is discourage people from bidding. People need to read the listing and terms before bidding first. I still believe you will still have some people not read and want to cancel. If they want to cancel I would say as a seller cancel the bid cause yes they may not either pay or want to return the item which will cost you the seller.

·4 months agoThey can also still return it "free" under the MBG but that involves more motions on their part, so yeah I'd say it will at least discourage the sport bidding somewhat.
