It's a lot of work to pull listings
Summary: baydealz expressed dissatisfaction with eBay, citing a lack of respect and problematic practices, and plans to move inventory to other venues. While some participants offered advice on managing listings efficiently, others shared their experiences and opinions about selling on multiple platforms. chapeau-noir and stephenmorgan discussed achieving Top Rated Seller status, and several contributors advised on the benefits and drawbacks of different selling venues. Overall, the conversation revolved around strategies for handling online sales and navigating various platforms.
It's a lot of work to pull listings, but I've ended over half (>60) as I'm moving to other venues that respect me. I've sensed for four years that eBay didn't want me though I provide a service as eBay was originally intended and provide top service. But they've geared it to allow exploitation, and that has happened yet again. The machine won't care. In this automated approach where high volume, low touch, all for the buyer, wild west, we're not a fit. I left some items up to see if my mind changes, but I'll be cross posting them. How a store can abuse it's vendors is beyond me, but I'm clearly the wrong audience.

·1 month agoTop Ranked Seller status is not difficult to obtain.
Top Ranked Seller status is hard to obtain if you are selling returns in shopworn packaging as NEW.
You may have left the dregs of your inventory as your remaining listings but they suggest that you may have not understood what are acceptable business practices on today's Ebay. Other sites might be even less tolerant than Ebay is the rest of your inventory appears similarly.

·1 month agoSorry to hear you are having so many issues. I've been selling on three sites for many years. I can confirm for you that the grass is not always greener on the other side. But I do wish you good luck.

·1 month agoDo you not have a computer? You can end all your listings in seconds if you use a computer. If you are trying to manage an ebay account on the phone app then you are already setting yourself up for bad results, the phone app is to lure in new sellers and quickly do things on the phone, managing a large account on the phone app is just setting labor time on fire. Cheapest refurb computer from microcenter is 10 times better at running an ebay business than a cell phone is.
Also, I have 3000 listings, crosslisted to a half dozen websites and the overwhelming majority of my sales happen on ebay. Because this is where all the customers are. Everything I can see that you have listed would be actively terrible on other websites in which most of the sales tend to be clothes and toys with cute things and kitchen items following behind those categories. There is no other website where repair parts or broken cameras even have a chance of selling besides ebay.

OP1 month agoMostly agreed, so you just absorb the BS (lying and exploiting buyers) and eBay automation/frustration as just 'business?' It's become too risky. I've not had one nonsense email, reply or rebuttal in any other venue. Of course, I found the opposite as a buyer once where they wouldn't return an obviously deceptive listing. eBay nonsense got up to 50%, then resided, giving me confidence which is now shattered.

·1 month agoEvery platform is the same in that regard and that stuff is the longterm equivalent of a rounding error unless you choose to specialize in categories that have frequent problem customers, in which case you have to account for it.
In any case I am not lighting my business on fire because of anything one customer did, or 10 customers did.

·1 month agoYou seem to not know how this place works so it's probably best you do move on as it ONLY takes all of 15 seconds to bulk edit- 'end' 200 listings at a time (change page to 200 in 'Active Listings' in 'Seller Hub')

·1 month ago · EditedHuh. I pull listings and move them around all over the internet and have for years. Cut and paste.

Good luck in your expansion!

OP1 month agoThank you. I've been on multiple venues for a while, understanding which market suited best for each item. I got overly confident that eBay ended up working for things I hesitated over and listed a ton of items. It'll take longer, but not much longer to solely use the other venues that are better suited for me. EBay is a commerce company now, not a trading site. I'd like to have hit 1000 reviews or get Top Seller rating, but have been there for so long that I don't think it's possible for my goods. It'd be like whining that Amazon didn't work for me - I used to use them a decade ago but it clearly was for new distributed goods. They have their target customer and it's not me, that's fine.

·1 month agoI've done a LOT of hopscotch down through the years, for sure. eBay was actually the third site I started on way back when, but yeah, the evolution of eCommerce has definitely meant more competition, platform focus changing and the like.
It actually gets frustrating as sites tend to tap out and one has to start on a new one, but at least the mechanics of it aren't too hard.

·1 month agoYou do not need to have 1000 reviews to get Top Rated Seller. You need at least 100 sold transactions with a total value of at least $1000. Once you reach this your Top Rated Status is good for a year and will continue or discontinue based of if you continue to have at least 100 sold transaction with at least $1000 value within a year.
