Item still in transit, buyer left positive feedback.
Hello all,
I recently started listing some of my baseball card collection and have had some pretty good luck with 4 sales in my first 2 weeks. One of those cards, sent via eBay Standard Envelope on 6/11, has been shown as "destination processing" in Dayton OH since 6/17. I messaged buyer today asking if they received it. They did not respond to the message, but did leave positive feedback saying "as described".
As a new seller, my funds are held until the item is marked as delivered (I think). While its only 4 bucks, it drives me crazy seeing the other orders completed and this one "shipped"
What do I do? Do I wait and eventually it will correct itself? Do I contact eBay? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

·1 year agoThere nothing for you to do. Sometimes buyers do leave feedback before an item arrives. Usually I think they just confuse you with another seller. But it certainly isn't a harmful thing for you or the buyer.

·1 year agoAs a new seller funds are usually held for 30 days...'not until item is marked as delivered'.
Nothing you can do except keep selling every month so there are no more holds on your funds.
You have the option of using ESE or not...it's up to you.
Sometimes tracking shows after it's been delivered and sometimes tracking may never show up.

Though the eBay standard envelope is CHEAP shipping, it is known for miserable and unreliable tracking. They do not us USPS tracking numbers, and basically only get updates at larger sorting centers. There may be a "delivery" scan that happens a few days before it is handed over to the buyer, or no scan at all.
Unless you have a buyer that files an "item not received" claim, you don't need to do anything. Feedback does not get your money released any sooner. You just have to wait until eBay is ready to let you have it, typically after 30 days with no complaints.

OP1 year agoThanks. I had no issues with 2 of my ESE, just this one. I'm a pretty anxious person so seeing it as not delivered had me worried. Now at least I know what im getting into.

·1 year agoeBay Standard envelope does not have a good way of tracking, it will stay on your account as not received and your funds will be released after a period of time (30 days I think).
Sorry but if you use ESE you have to live with not getting a delivery scan. I wouldn't switch to tracking just because of that, if you use ESE then you can file a lost item claim if the buyer didn't receive it. But don't go messaging them and asking them... that's called poking the bear around here.

OP1 year agoYou're the second person to tell me not to message buyer. I didnt listen the first time since the buyer had 100% feedback, but I won't do it again haha. Thanks for the response.

·1 year agoAll buyers will have 100% on their feedback because they can't receive anything but positive feedback.
Reason it's not a good idea to contact the buyer, you get some that's a little shady and even though they receive the item, if they see that tracking doesn't show delivered, they would file an INR and get a refund.

·1 year agoThe buyer might not know you didn't know if it's delivered or not... the thing is, if you ask, and they say they don't have it, then what do you do? The logical thing to do is refund. If you say nothing to the buyer and let them contact you, they might not do that. But if asked a question "did you receive your item" it's easy to say "no" and see what you can shake out of the tree.
I used to message the buyer, a long time ago, and perhaps I'd have given fewer refunds if I just left things alone. When asked a question people lie, it's an opportunity, but many people (unless they're actual scammers) will not go messaging they don't have an item when they do...

·1 year agoFirst of all, most buyers are honest. But the reason we advise against contacting buyers is that contacting a (less than honest) buyer whose item may have been delivered without a delivery scan is letting that buyer know they will win an INR (item not received) case and get a refund for their item if they open a claim. (And that refund comes from your funds!)
