Item sold and returned but NOT everything in sale was returned to me.
I listed a "Canon Power Shot SX530 Camera Not Working As Is" in the item title, so all was to know the camera was not working. Also included the listing were the original box, unopened camera strap, lens cap, battery charger and booklet for $50. A buyer purchased the camera and after receiving it wanted to return it right away; reason being it was defective and didn't work; which was already obviously in the item title that it did not work. I accepted it back because eBay said I had to. It took the buyer almost 2 weeks to return it. I just received the camera back this afternoon. When I opened the box the only thing in the box is the camera wrapped in brown paper!! No original box, strap, battery charger, lens cap (which was attached to the camera and covering the lens) booklet; nothing but the camera body. I really thought with a return you were returned everything that was sent to the buyer. How is this all possibly good business. What do I do to get the other items back? I have not refunded the buyer as of this writing. Giving the refund I accepted but what is upsetting was not getting everything back that I sent.

·2 years agoI would send them a message stating that it looks like they forget to return everything, but not to worry, you will be visiting their state next month and will be by to pick it up.

After delivery, your buyer should have been automatically refunded.

·2 years agoSounds like you did not provide a return label. If so, Stand your ground. Report buyer. Block buyer.
Keep package with label and contents until this issue is finalized.

OP2 years agoI did provide the return address label. I reported and have blocked. I just can't understand how people can do this and get away with it.

·2 years agoIt is seller's word vs the buyer's word. Tracking shows item or something got returned. Seller has to do a refund. Only thing left to do is block the buyer.
I assume you haven't received feedback yet either. Be nice if you respond to their feedback. Anything nasty you leave can get deleted by buyer or eBay.
Wouldn't it be strange if buyer decided to sell their camera with all your accessories with the box? Does this buyer sell also?

OP2 years agoI blocked the buyer. No feedback either from the buyer; I won't say anything back, I'm sure that would be a bad idea even if I want to so badly. The buyer is a seller also; and if I looked I think I would find my items there. Live and learn everyday.

@bay-bee-blu
I'll address this ^^^ part. If you don't refund, eBay will force the full refund and you'll get a ding to your Seller Metrics.

·2 years agoOne time I had a junk drawer returned to me with valuable Pokemon cards taken out. When I talked to someone from eBay they said I have to account for these kind of scams in my business model and just write it off on my taxes. They did say that they give every account one Grace refund in scenarios like this, but it will only happen once and never again.
That's why you hear people saying that in return scams they could just mail you back or rock and still get refunded. Your only protection (if you have already used your freebie refund) is to have either buyer pays or free returns and to be a top-rated seller. Then you're given the option of deducting up to 50% off of a refund due to damages on returns.
