Item Shows Delivered
If it shows delivered, us sellers are off the hook (most of the time anyway).
Just saw something interesting on a Local Group / FB post.
Somebody made a post complaining that USPS Tracking showed something was Delivered, but it's either not delivered, or delivered somewhere else.
About half-way down the comments, somebody that works for USPS posted the following:
"Feel free to PM me your number. I’ll be happy to call you and see what we can do to locate your package. All of our scanners are equipped with GPS so we can see exactly where it was scanned as delivered"
Now that's interesting.................
Hope eBay doesn't find out about this

·5 months agoThis is not something that is new. The scanners with GPS have been in use for a number of years, maybe 5+.
When a recipient indicates they didn't receive a package but tracking shows delivered they can contact their local P.O. who can check the location of the scan. If you do this fast it improves the chances that the package can be retrieved and delivered to the correct location.
eBay is well aware of this (old) tech that USPS has been using for years.
FYI - Miss-delivered packages happen tens of thousands of times EVERY day. Good sellers assist their customers when they report this situation. If you get confirmation from USPS that the package was not delivered correctly you can then file a claim for loss.

·5 months agoYes, this is not a secret. However, eBay doesn't have access to that info, it would be for "you" to use to obtain documents from the carrier that the item wasn't delivered to "your" location/address. This is important info to get when filing a charge back for being a victim of the fake tracking scam

This is true. I had a package that was delivered to the house on another street with the same house number. I filed a lost package, and the PO had my mail carrier go get it and bring it to me.

·5 months agoI'm not sure what you are concerned about eBay finding out.....why would they care if USPS is helping a seller figure out where their order went?
There are any number of things that could be going on in the situation you described.
- Item was delivered to the correct address. Someone else brought it in and misplaced it and did not tell the person that's expecting it.
- Item was delivered to the correct address, but someone stole it.
- It was delivered to the correct address, but physically left with a neighbor.
- Item was not delivered at all, but received a delivery scan by mistake. (This happens more often than it should.)
- Item was delivered to an incorrect address. (While possible, it is probably the least likely.)

OP5 months agoOMG....never expected this on a forum (sarcasm)
USPS scanner have GPS that tells exactly where the item was scanned..I FOUND THAT INTERESTING BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW THAT.
If I was the only one, apologies.
IMO: If eBay makes use of this and the package turns out to be scanned somewhere else than the address it was shipped to? Knowing eBay, all of us sellers will be refunding. (well, it sure seems eBay is increasingly nice to buyers, at sellers expense).
Yeah, dozens of things could have happened. Doesn't really matter. This isn't about what happened.
It's about an item being scanned delivered, and being able to find out exactly WHERE it was scanned as delivered.

The USPS scanners track the location of each scan using GPS.
That information is not available to eBay, however.
It only comes into play if a buyer or seller appeals a decision and obtains a letter from the USPS confirming that it was not delivered to their address.

·5 months ago@redlinear sounds like a scam to me, altho there are some USPS emplyees who are ebay sellers/buyers, but they post their answers for all to see

·5 months agoKeeping in mind that the USPS isn't allowed to tell you where it was delivered, but that you can get a statement, on letterhead, from your PO that the delivery address wasn't yours.
