Item not recieved
Summary: dude_guyson is experiencing issues with a package sent to a buyer that has not been received, resulting in both the item and payment being lost. Several participants offered advice, suggesting that the seller refund the buyer and file a claim with the postal service. There are recommendations to use eBay's shipping services to qualify for potential eBay compensation. Questions were also raised about tracking and whether the package was insured. There was specific guidance about processes for filing claims with USPS and conditions under which eBay refunds sellers.
All I need is for my funds to released. I shipped a package out but the buyer never recieved it, there is supposed to be seller compensation for lost packages, since that is out of your control as a seller. But I am completely unable to contact anyone besides a stupid AI clanker. Am I just supposed to accept getting screwed over by ebay AND the post office? I'm out the item I was selling and the money now. What am I supposed to do?

·1 week agoYou did not happen to ship this with UPS Ground Saver and dropped it off at the USPS office?
If you did that, no one will ever see the package again and you are out the item and the money.

·1 week ago · Edited@dude_guyson Did you ship the order with tracking and on-time? Did you buy the shipping label through eBay? Did the buyer open an INR and you respond by uploading the tracking? Did you refund the buyer through the INR?
There are lots of unanswered questions here.
eBay does refund sellers who ship orders using a label purchased through eBay and shipped within their handling time (you must have an acceptance scan within that handling time window). If you've met all of that, then the next thing is you must have responded to the INR without eBay stepping in and you must have refunded the buyer through the INR case. If all of that is met and the package is delivered to the buyer later on, then eBay refunds you. There must be a delivery scan on the tracking number for them to do that.
If you don't meet those qualifications or did not follow that procedure, then you must file for the insurance on USPS' website. That's how you get your money back. Just follow the directions on there.

OP1 week agoI've checked with the post office I dropped it off at and they don't have it. I can't get the item back and I don't know where it is. Am I just supposed to take the loss?

·1 week ago@dude_guyson you need to refund the buyer in full and then file a claim with the post office.
eBay does not offer compensation for lost packages, you are responsible for the package until delivery and responsible for refunds 30 days after delivery.

·1 week ago@momtoabeautifuldaughter eBay does refund sellers for packages that are subsequently delivered, if a seller refunds a buyer through an INR and other qualifications are met. I'm not going to restate all of that here but I do not want casual sellers reading your post to be confused.

·1 week agoTrue but the way I read it was that it never even got an acceptance scan and post office doesn't know why.
