Item already sold
I got an email from a buyer who purchased a stamp. The buyer in the email said if it isn't like the one in the photo just refund him.
I thought nothing of it. So I go to find the stamp and find out it was sold already. This is a first for me. I thought the email was odd. To get this email from buyer same time he paid for the item.
Is it possible for a buyer to put something in their "cart" for a future purchase and buy it after it was already sold another buyer? My thought was after this item was purchased by someone else a while back he purchased it because it was still in his shopping cart.
So I had a block of 4 of the same stamps for sale. I decided to see if he would take that in place of the same stamp but a block of 4 stamps at no extra cost. Buyer replied "Thank you". Did I get scammed?

·3 years agoA lot of sellers have multiple quantites of an item, especially in the stamps category; but, they only attach a photo of one representative. They'll mention this fact in the description, list as multi-quantity or only list that one example. Regardless, many stamp collectors are aware of this, so I think this explains the timing of the message.
As for the listing being active that was previously sold, it's happened to me as well. I was able to identify the problem in my case. My sold listings would stay active but with zero quantity. It only becomes an issue if you lose track of the item/s or just simply unaware, and go to re-list as sell similar. Now that zero quantity item becomes active again with 1 quantity.
The problem arises from the the "multi quantity items stay active when out of stock" option is turned on manually, or by some unknown glitch.
Regarding buyers being able to purchase an item from their cart that was sold. It shouldn't be possible as the listing will indicate "item not available" from their cart.

I fail to see exactly what the "scam" was. It sounds like you just made a mistake with a listing.
