Issue with international shipping
I had sold my macbook, and it was getting shipped to China, via the international shipping service. The buyer messaged me saying that the laptop was getting returned to me, by the shipping company. Ebay ended up refunding him his money but, I have yet to see my laptop. I've checked with the UPS store where I shipped it and, they said it would be mailed directly back to me.
Contacted ebay and, they have no way of getting into a hold of the warehouse, in Illinois. lol. Its been about 10 days and, I have no clue who else to contact about it. I did get UPS insurance on it so, is it possible to file a claim for a missing package? This whole situation sucks. Anyone have something similar happen to them?

·2 years agoMany electronics in the US are prohibited by law from exportation. I would not be surprised if that was the issue. ebay tends to be VERY behind the times legally until it costs them money....

·2 years agoSo you can't send a laptop made in China to China?!?! That's incredible!

·2 years agoYou get to keep the sale and we’ve issued a refund to your buyer."
Ebay refunded the buyer on their dime........you kept the original payment.........the laptop now belongs to ebay who will have someone try to sell it.
It's over......you and the buyer are whole.

·2 years agoA CORRECTION TO MY RESPONSE:
If I am understanding your message, I see that you used UPS, NOT eBay International Shipping.
So you should get your item back.
MY MISTAKE!!!
Good luck to you, YOU WILL GET YOUR ITEM BACK......PATIENCE!!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

·2 years agoI believe with the new eBay International Shipping, if a buyer returns the item, eBay will refund the buyer.
The seller is no longer in the hook for this.
The item is returned to eBay and who knows what they do with it.
I believe it goes to their warehouse or something.....this has been answered in other treads here.
Therefore you will not be getting your item back.
eBay has refunded the buyer on your behalf (YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED FOR THE REFUND RIGHT???)
If so, then why would eBay return your item to you....only to sell again.
You made your money......Be Happy you are off the hook for the refund to the buyer.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST!

·2 years agoWhy would have Ebay already refunded the buyer? That would be unusual.
When a claim is filed, Ebay puts that money on hold in your account, but they haven't refunded it to the buyer yet. So is it on hold or did it get returned to the buyer. Take a look at your Account Summary.
https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/summary
Is the claim the buyer filed in Ebay for the return still opened? What was the reason the buyer returned the item?

OP2 years agoHere is the message Ebay sent me on the 8th:
"We wanted to let you know that unfortunately this item could not be shipped internationally. As a result, your order can’t be fulfilled. This could be due to import restrictions or eligibility requirements. You get to keep the sale and we’ve issued a refund to your buyer."
No clear answer on why it couldn't be shipped to the person besides some restriction. I don't see any refund payments / claims open on the summary page quite yet. (Just the payout from the original sale of the laptop) So after that, I messaged the buyer about it and he said, that they were supposed to get the money refunded to them, within 3 - 5 days. The buyer never got the package. I just have no clue where the laptop is as, it should of been back to me about 4 or 5 days ago.

·2 years agoOKAY!
SO YOU DID USE EBAY INTERNATIONAL???
eBay says they did refund???
Then my original message is essential correct then.
You do not have to do anything else.
YOU ARE OFF THE HOOK!!!
LEAVE IT ALONE is my suggestion.
"YOU GOT THE SALE" as eBay has said!!!

OP2 years agoGreat! I guess I just didn't fully understand what they meant by this:
"We wanted to let you know that unfortunately this item could not be shipped internationally. As a result, your order can’t be fulfilled. This could be due to import restrictions or eligibility requirements. You get to keep the sale and we’ve issued a refund to your buyer."
To me, it sounded like I needed to refund the buyer (Which is no problem) and I'd be waiting for my laptop to come back in the mail. This is the first time ever dealing with international shipping. I feel kinda dumb now. lol. If I don't have to worry about repaying it then, they can keep the laptop. (Wherever it is)

·2 years agoIDK why! They clearly tell you that they refunded your buyer.
Here is a link you should read through so that you can better understand the EIS program. It is important that sellers understand the policy.

·2 years agoYou get to keep your payment.
Ebay refunds the buyer.
Ebay takes the laptop and resells it to cover the refund to the buyer.
You won't be getting it back.

·2 years agoWell in the portion of the message you stated here, they tell you that they have issued the refund to the buyer and you get to keep the sale. That means Ebay refunded out of Ebay money and your money was never touched.
You could look up the restrictions for that country, that may help you better understand.
You get to keep the sale per Ebay, they won't be sending you the laptop and also allow you to keep the money. Your laptop is gone now, owed by Ebay for the time being. You have been paid, so you are whole. There is nothing more for you to do and you should not email your buyer again.

OP2 years agoThank you. Idk why I was struggling to understand this for but, I appreciate it.
