Is this item waiting for payment?
An item has this banner: You marked this item as "Payment Received" on Jul 24, 2025
I did not mark anything 'payment received'!
Also I have not received an email telling me I sold an item.
What is going on?

·1 year agoYeah, the order page and the payment page are two different things. If the order page has orders awaiting shipment, you are good to ship.
An order that's still "processing" can be shipped if its showing up as awaiting shipment, as shown above.
What I was referring to, was the first 5-10 minutes when the payment is made. That is when weird wording can show up. Once that initial transaction completes, that goes away. The processing portion that shows up in the payment section usually takes at least a day to complete (24 hours from when the payment was authorized).

I got the email that says; great news your item has sold, bla, bla, bla, get a shipping label, bla, bla, bla, your buyer has paid..,bla, bla, bla.
I still have the idiotic banner. The Order Details say payment is being processed and should be available by tomorrow, July 25. Fine. Whatever.
I've been selling for many years, but this is the first time I have seen this banner. So, I came here to ask and found that some people at some times get this random message that eventually goes away. (mine hasn't yet). That banner is a complete fantasy - a lie. That's why I needed clarification.

·1 year agoKnowing what sold and what hasn't sold is basic ebay knowledge that every seller should know how to do.

·1 year agoJust to make a clear point here:
Anytime a payment is pending/process, eBay status will show some weird dialogue.
For sellers, it may show as the OP has stated. For buyers, it may show something like "Unpaid" for them even though it has been.
The biggest thing to do is not panic, and wait 5-10 minutes for the payment to process. Once its updated, things will look normal. Sellers will have it marked as paid and ready to ship, and buyers will see its paid and ready to ship.
Every so often we get a post like this where people get tripped up over the wording when the payment is in process. So at this point, its just the way it is. Whether they (eBay) will ever address this and try to make it more clear is unknown.

OP1 year agoOK, I'll hold off for a day and wait for better dialog.
This is what shows up in my Order Details. Note it says payment 'should' be processed by tomorrow, the 25th. I set several days of my shipping time, so should be OK to wait a bit.
Guess I can't even show a jpg photo of a screenshot. sigh..

Is this order there with a "ship by date"?
I would only ship if it is in the orders awaiting shipment.
I would never ship in orders waiting for payment.
When funds are "processing" they have taken up to a day or two - sometimes longer to stop processing and to become "available". Even if an order payment is showing "processing" payment you are supposed to ship if the order is in the "Manage Orders Waiting Shipment".

And I absolutely did not accidentally click anything.
It has now shown up in my email.
In 'orders' it says payment being processed. Probably says that with all sales, but I never paid attention.
I just really object to the wording that "... You marked this item as "Payment Received" on Jul 24, 2025". I guarantee you I did not mark anything as payment received. This has never happened before. Another glitch?

I've never marked any item as "payment received"
Like most things ebay I just ignore it and move on

OP1 year agoI'll send it out. I believe it was paid for, but maybe ebay has not fully processed the payment.

·1 year agoNO. Wait until payment has finished processing and its status is Ready to Ship. You should also get a statement like that in email to your own email account that you have tied to your Ebay sales.
I agree that the Marked as Shipped message sounds wrong but it may be result of a sale occurring but payment is still processing (in my experience the Processing status only shows for a few minutes to an hour at most) and the page coding cannot decide on exactly what the sale status is (yet).

·1 year agoYou may have misclicked at some point and not realized it. Does it show on your "Awaiting shipment" page? If so, try clicking the dropdown menu next to it and see if you can choose something like Mark as Not Paid (I can't check what the exact wording would be).
