Is positive feedback with a negative comment for the SELLER allowed?
My most recent positive feedback:
"This is extremely small and overpriced. I would have paid $5 for it but not $21.00."
The size and the price are in the listing. Buyer paid $16 for the item not $21. Paid $5 for shipping.
I know sellers can't leave buyers positive feedback with a negative comment
but can buyers leave positive feedback with a negative comment for sellers?
It's a positive so I'm not going to evan try and have it removed but if I did, would ebay remove it?

I have seen that statement interpreted by ‘those who should know’ to include the feedback that buyers leave as well … which I think is INSANE!
Would any seller prefer to have a negative comment forced to be left with a negative or neutral rating … when the buyer preferred to leave a positive?

·2 years agoI purchased incontinence male diapers and was advised there if FREE SHIPPING but in fact I was charged. The sum result is I paid far more to receive two packages of 36 than if I went into Walmart and purchased them in person. Make certain you know if you or they pay delivery. This is lousy customer faith in what is in writing.

Feedback misuse
Any misuse of feedback isn't allowed. Feedback comments should match the positive or negative rating that was given in both buyer and seller feedback. For example, a negative comment should not be left with a positive rating.
This policy applies to both buyers and sellers.

·3 years agoLol.. I pointed out the policy and the rep still would not remove it. Rep said he didn't see that as a bad comment.. he suggested I contact the buyer and ask if they would like to revise...I told him that I should not have to..Ebay should follow the policy

Buyer left positive feedback but Pit in comments that bag smell horrible, possibly smoke!!
Removal request denied-- and Chat removal request denied.
I pointed out that Ebay Policy states that buyer can not leave negative comment on positive rating.. Ebay Chat said buyer wad welcome to leave their feelings on their experience .
So basically Ebay does not follow their own policies when it comes to sellers as I pointed out that if buyer wanted money back that Ebay would Force me to do that..
I am a top rated plus seller by the way..
Ebay only cares about the buyer--- never about the seller

·3 years agoDon't even bother. Just reply to their feedback. A lot of people don't even read FB anymore. I used to get all worked up over Negatives, years ago when I was a smaller store I had none. I can remember being shocked when I gone my first one. I used to always try to have them removed.
Eventually I realized it's pointless to fight it. As soon as they would roll off and I'd be back to 100% again someone would leave me one. It's like they just waited for that. Ha ha. If you get to a certain selling level you'll always have negative feedbacks. Don't get excited. Just reply to them if you feel it's unjustified. Or don't. It really doesn't matter if you're a good honest seller it shows.
Just remember you can't please everyone. There's always going to be someone who is a nightmare to deal with. It's just statistically a fact about the human race.

·3 years agoI understand you try to make it sound like the buyer only paid $16. (many seller think that way). The reality is the buyer paid $21. It is like when sellers try justifying Ebay robbing us in fees when you actually get charged 24% not 13%. To answer your question, no Ebay will not remove it.

how much did you pay for the toaster oven ..... $40 or $60?

Just one more example of the cannot will not read buyers we deal with.
On another note, your feedback (should anyone want to read it before buying) is outstanding. One dippy do dah in the bunch will look like just that...a dippy do dah.

OP3 years agoYes. The item and the reason for the request. A few hours later the feedback was gone and ebay sent me a message letting me know. I t looks like some things do work on ebay. 😉

·3 years agoWow... you got very lucky. The guy got a tiny bag of candy, left a positive, and just let you know it was not worth $21. I see no policy violation whatsoever. The feedback system is so messed up.

·3 years ago@wastingtime101 Thanks for the info. Sorry, I didn't realize the sellerhelp link wouldn't work in this case. I guess SM would be the only option. That would be enough reason for me not to bother, but I know some don't mind using SM.
OP, I operate under the principle of 'it never hurts to ask', so I would def ask for it to be removed if you don't mind using FB or Twitter. Why not? You have nothing to lose. The worst they can do is say no.

ETA: You may be able to get it removed under the positive/negative comment ruling, though.

·3 years agoIf the buyer knew how to leave the negative properly, you would have had a matching negative comment and rating. The buyer didn't break any feedback rules and it would remain. eBay will just say they are allowed to express their opinion about their buying experience.

follow the links for FB removal, reference the policy @slippinjimmy mentioned & see what happens. I believe the are off on Sunday. When I've used this link, they usually remove within an hour, if they're going to. It takes less than a minute to do.

·3 years agoI've had a lot of success using that method since the launch of that help hub, but it's not going to help the OP because FB with pos rating won't appear on that page to file the removal request.
OP's easiest option would be a DM on social.

I could be wrong, it's been a minute since I've had to use the screen, but I just checked & you can search your FB's or put in an item number. Wouldn't that work? It does let me choose a POS, but I don't want to follow through, since I don't actually want anything removed.

·3 years agoTried that with a couple items I've gotten several pos FB for recently. Put in the item numbers and got 0 results. 🤷
More info for @inhawaii because I did try to get a neg comment with pos rating removed that complained about price.
Paraphrased not quoted so I'm not violating board policies by sharing this:
Seller: eBay policy says "feedback comments should match the positive or negative rating that was given." Buyer left a neg with a pos rating which is a violation of that policy. Can this feedback be removed?
CS: Typically we wouldn't remove feedback for a seller that doesn't match the rating, but since this feedback breaks our negative/neutral policy I will remove the comment but leave the rating.
Seller: Can you clarify the negative/neutral policy that was violated?
CS: When a buyer purchases an item, they are agreeing to a price and shipping cost that goes with it. No one forces them to purchase an item with a price or shipping cost they don't like. We will remove feedback where a buyer says they're not happy about those costs.

·3 years agoI’ve gotten these same types of feedback removed citing a different violation. I explained since the positive comment obviously doesn’t match the negative feedback, it’s likely the buyer made some sort of mistake. Either the comment or the feedback was directed at another purchase they made, not mine. And that is a feedback violation eligible for removal.
I also get comments that don’t match the feedback and I find out that the buyer simply copy and pasted or auto filled the comment hundreds of times before mine.

·3 years agoGiven what others have turned up about the Rules 'n' Regs, it sounds like appealing it to eBay would be worth a try. If they turn you down it's not going to make the feedback any worse.

·3 years agoNot so much because I want I removed, but I’m a fan of experimenting when given the opportunity and there’s little to no consequences. So I’d just see if I’m able to successfully do it for the sake of knowing. Then again, eBay could put you on a “listâ€.

But they will remove it based on the fact it's a complaint about price and the buyer agreed to pay that price when they made the purchase.

·3 years agoSure. Sometimes it can be removed if it's a product review rather than a seller review, but I would not be optimistic about that happening in this case.
I would leave it alone (especially do not reply to it as that will draw the eye to it) and it will roll off your first page of feedback soon enough.

It's a bummer that that negative review now shows at the bottom of the listing.

·3 years agoI was going to say I generally ignore this sort of thing until I read this comment, which made me rethink everything. I don't sell many multi-quantity items, but this new thing where ebay is now putting feedback right on the item page is new to me. I just figured out they are showing feedbacks there that pertain to just that item and they don't seem to scroll off as they do on my regular feedback screen
So the OP's concern makes sense if what I see is true. My one of a kind items just show random feedbacks which might change? If they stick for a long time on the multi-quantity items, that is different & I would be more likely to want stuff like this one removed.

·2 years agoI've had a positive rating with negative comment removed once. I don't remember the circumstances though.
Just that he seller help tool doesn't work if it's positive, it only gives you the option for negs and neutrals, and I had to call and speak to a CSR (at this time I could call them). I cited the policy that we can't do that for buyers, so it shouldn't be done for sellers either and they removed it.
Since it is a positive, if you sell enough, it will be buried quickly, and no one will notice in a week or two. I've gotten some less than great reviews that were left in positive (the buyer wanted to say something, but wasn't intent on tarnishing my perfect rating). For some reason in the past, the comment really bothered me so I did what I could to have it removed. Normally I wouldn't bother.
