Is it true that ebay is congested by mass reporters or price gougers nowadays?
I saw this post https://community.ebay.com/t5/Ask-a-Mentor/A-competitive-seller-is-mass-reporting-my-listings-as/m-p/33906483 and this type of problem is being shared in Reddit. I bet ebay reps would remove the list than proving the reporters' fake report since clicking a button is easier and faster. This is probably the reason why TCGs are heading to Goldin.

·2 years agoYou realize that link is several months old.
Ebay doesn't typically remove a listing that has only been reported once and certainly not if it was reported by a competitor.
When Ebay removes a listing, the email you receive will give you an idea of what happened.
Are you planning to list questionable items? Have you read the policy for whatever you are considering listing?

Really? Tell us then how you "CERTAINLY" know this to be true.
It "CERTAINLY" isn't because ANYONE can report any listing at any time through the "Report a Listing" link. Why even have it? How would they know its a competitor reporting it? In the face of these truths, your statement saying listings have "CERTAINLY" NOT been taken down due to reports by competitors is just assumption for the sake of contradiction.

·2 years agoEasy! There is no need in trying to be confrontational.
Reported listings by a competitor is sometimes done in an effort to get rid of some competition. Not all, but some. Ebay knows this.
If you are of the opinion that a single report will always get a listing removed, you are mistaken. For a listing to get removed it must violate some policy and not just because another member is of the opinion that it violates policy.
It is a frequent complaint by many members over the years that they report listings for one reason or another and they never seem to get removed or any action taken. The threads have often had such discussions. Sorry you missed them. Also we have discussed this process at the many times over the years at the Weekly Chats when we use to have them. This isn't new information.
When someone reports a listing. It does help to move it up the list of priorities [so to speak] for the team that reviews the listings. Listings are review by a combination of AI and humans. The more reports on a given listing by multiple members the higher it moves up on the priority list.
Over the years I've reported listings for one reason or another. It has been rare to actually see any action taken except during the Pandemic years and more recently with the Gold sneakers.

OP2 years agoBest violation I've read is 'Your $3 dollar ungraded card is a violation I got is blah blah blah' this is obviously reported by random seller with a lot of garbage time on hand.
Then I chatted with support, they wanted me to show a Cert of Auth for a $3. I was like bro I'm selling a cheap main $3 card 'ungraded' which is available on the drop down (You only have 2 option to select from; Graded and Ungraded).
COA is not even available on the Item Description, doesn't even exist in the item description, doesn't even available on dropdowns. COA is 'if' the TCG is graded only, now you have the COA.
And so this agent gets **bleep** and left chat. 🤣 Glad you're doing awesome mam98031 and you're not affected by this. 💕

·2 years agoI looked at the thread you linked to and I think that poster created his own problem with sloppy language.
From his post, he is selling tear sheets, ads removed from magazines. He is calling them ad posters because he is trying to increase the interest or the price or is ashamed of ripping up magazines.
There are sellers on this site who are scanning and printing such ads and selling them as posters. violating copyright and trademark rights for the product advertised. Legitimate violations. He is joining the ranks of the counterfeiters without counterfeiting and risking bot takedowns, or Vero complaints or unhappy buyers who were misled to think they were buying posters.
Shooting themselves in the foot is a common seller activity. The natural reaction of sellers who have made one of these mistakes is paranoia - someone is out to get me. How can I be doing anything wrong - I have 100% feedback.
I actually put up some tear sheets recently without any problems or sales yet. They are not subject to copyright and are of historic interest. They were too interesting to through away but who knows whether any Ebay buyer will think so.

·2 years agoIt is known that eBay places greater emphasis on buyer reports than competing sellers’ reports. Using this as a basis, it is then both probable and possible that competitors reporting their rival’s listings carries less weight.
Consider the chaos that would ensue if eBay took down every listing reported by rival sellers.
Stated on the pop-up page that follows a submitted report, eBay cautions that making multiple submissions on the same listing benefits no one, and holds up the review process or otherwise interferes with it.
eBay also cautions users that false reports are considered a policy violation, and action could be taken against the offender. See link below.
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/default/ebays-rules-policies?id=4216
â€â€¦False reports of policy violations delay the review processes of genuine reports, which is detrimental to the eBay community.â€
Then there is the intractable problem of eBay not acting in good faith to remove restricted or forbidden items correctly reported as violations by users.

OP2 years agoThe biggest problem is that it's not 'eBay' taking down every list reported by rivals. The reports are being checked by customer agents who we don't know if they're even trained or whatnot, or if these so called agents are actually human or just bots randomly checking reports.
Y'all will be amazed and rofled once you experience what we're talking about here...plus add the customer agents explanations 😂 you're basically fk3d

·2 years agoI doubt that eBay takes items down based on a single report by a competitor.

·2 years agoI dont think this is accurate information based on our 1st hand experience - Had our LOWEST PRICE designer face masks taken down as counterfeit that were GUARANTEED not counterfeit - We see the 7 or 8 others listings still there - Days later, they are still there, so we decide to fight fire with fire and report each one of them as fake and a day later there was only one left and that was a brand new listing...No... based on our experience, its just another way unscrupulous people have found to screw their neighbors, and another failure of service on the part of ebay...
luckythewinner
·2 years agoHow do you know it was a single competitor report that got your listing removed?
isaiah53-57
·2 years agoThis was our initial post:
"(We) had our LOWEST PRICE designer face masks taken down as counterfeit that were GUARANTEED not counterfeit - We see the 7 or 8 others listings still there - Days later, they are still there, so we decide to fight fire with fire and report each one of them as fake and a day later there was only one left and that was a brand new listing...No... based on our experience, its just another way unscrupulous people have found to screw their neighbors, and another failure of service on the part of ebay..."
You ask why we think it was taken down due to a competitors report?
Simple...common sense - Ours was the ONLY listing taken down out of 8 to 10 - A listing we knew to be in NO WAY Shape or form, counterfeit - Since we had the most competitive price offering, and based on the rules of deduction, the simplest explanation is most likely - And that is ours was reported by a competitor who didn't like being undercut. And then there's the idea the other listings remained until we reported them as counterfeit... If you can think of a more reasonable explanation, then by all means have at it..
fashunu4eeuh
·2 years agoHi @isaiah53-57
I thought face masks were verboten, especially during the pandemic, except for “eBay-approved†sellers. Were yours cloth, given that you refer to them as designer?
I remember eventually cloth masks were ok for anyone to list as long as no medical claims were made, no mention of Corona virus or other illness, and no surgical or medical masks listed. How could cloth masks be considered counterfeit? Were yours luxury branded?

OP2 years agohe's guessing probably, but more than likely a single competitor with 10 accounts 😅

So you cross your heart and pinky swear?
Sorry not good enough.

OP2 years agoYou're on point. I think it's basically neighbors/price gougers or manipulators reporting you. If they hate your post you'll be reported, if they get lucky then you're effed up. If you try contemplating to ebay support, unfortunately they will just read you a random script based on their guidelines not really what is really happening. My friend showed me a stupid response from them instructing her to make sure add a cert of auth to her ungraded card 🤣 a $4 dollar card. Like how TF you would do that? 😅

·2 years ago@iskocards ,
The last I checked there are third party authenticators like PSA, CSG, and Beckett that all certify gaming cards.
iskocards
OP2 years agoYes sir, but the agent wanted an ungraded card to have COA. He basically wanted me to have it graded before selling. So I was like then why in the world you boys are allowing ungraded card to be sold? 🤣 These agents are soooo untrained **bleep** 😂

·2 years agoThey don't. I've reported countless counterfeit items and not a single one has been taken down.
iskocards
OP2 years ago🎤 I reported the same item that ebay said has violated a policy. I reported multiple sellers with similar items (just for trial and error I have no plans of messing up somebody's business this ebay crap is just my hobby anyway) and what I received was 'DID NOT VIOLATE ANY POLICY'. Hilarious AF!
Then if you contact support, you just gonna read or hear a script they're reading, that you have violated a policy. But then they won't be able to explain why the items you just reported came back that 'it did not violate any policy' 😂

·2 years agoTraditionally, eBay notes but takes no action when a single Report is made. Or when a single member files multiple Reports.
They do take action when multiple members file multiple Reports, and when VeRO companies file Reports.
Reddit is fun to read but not exactly a fount of wisdom or anything like accurate reporting.
theondemandfactory
·2 years agoThis is not true, if you report an item is fake or counterfeit, you aren't required to provide any proof, and 1 report will ban the item instantly. How do I know this? Because today 52 of my items were reported as fake by the exact same person, and they all got banned instantly. Ebay has an automated system that automatically bans any report of this type, and forces you to prove its legit by filing an appeal. Literally no one looks at it until an appeal is open.
mam98031
·2 years agoIf that is your experience, it is extremely rare. Ebay doesn't and shouldn't just take the word of someone reporting the listing without Ebay researching it themselves.
It is highly likely that your listings were reported by more than one person. You are making some assumptions that aren't likely correct. But you really should contact Ebay directly. While they won't tell you who reported you, you can appeal the removals and try to get to the bottom of what happened.
************************************************************************
On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

·2 years ago@iskocards ,
You will start seeing more online market places being more aggressive looking for and removing potentially counterfeit and stolen goods due to legislation passed by congress last year holding them accountable with big fines.
Online market places will no longer be able to turn a blind eye to sellers of counterfeit and stolen goods on their sites. Unfortunately, most market places will error on the conservative side by removing items and asking questions later due to the new laws.
Have you tried TCGplayer.com which is the largest market place for gaming cards and collectibles?

OP2 years agoUmm maybe they need to look at China first before aggressively looking elsewhere 🤣 China copied almost every single thing US has excluding STDs.
