Is it possible to request a courtesy review of expired transaction defects?
Summary: annlinda2 is seeking advice on whether eBay allows for courtesy reviews or exceptions for historical transaction defects that occurred between July and December 2025, beyond the standard appeal window. They have since improved their business practices and wish for their account to reflect this progress. tenoem suggests that as the defects age, they should soon cease to impact the account, and remarks that buyers can't see these specific defects, only feedback which annlinda2 has handled professionally. inhawaii indicates that it's possible to request a review, but emphasizes learning from past mistakes when selling on any platform.
Hello everyone,
I am looking for guidance from experienced sellers and any eBay moderators who may be able to provide advice.
I currently have several historical transaction defects on my account, primarily:
• Out-of-stock cancellations
• One case closed without seller resolution
These defects occurred between July and December 2025 and are now outside the standard appeal window. Since then, I have significantly improved my inventory management and fulfillment processes and have had no similar issues.
I understand that the defects were valid at the time and I am not disputing that they occurred. However, I am wondering whether eBay ever grants courtesy reviews or exceptions for older defects when a seller has demonstrated improved performance and compliance.
Has anyone successfully had historical defects reviewed or removed after the appeal period expired?
If so:
• Which department did you contact?
• What information did you provide?
• Was Seller Performance able to assist?
I appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. My goal is to ensure my account reflects my current performance as a seller.
Thank you.

A: Yes, you can request anything you want.
My advice is:
When you start selling again, whether it is on ebay or any other platform, don't make the same mistakes.

If the defects started in July they should start dropping off soon and wouldn't impact you any longer.
Also your goal is to ensure your account reflects your current performance, buyers can't see your case closed without resolutions or out of stock cancellations to the best of my knowledge, they can only see your feedback, and you responded very professionally and apologetically for the negative you got. Feedback is all a buyer can see I believe.
