Is it better to relist an item after 30 days? Algorithm deprioritizes old listings

I notice the view count on my listings rapidly decreasing, as eBay has that confounding 30 day rolling view count. I also suspect the algorithm drastically reduces older listings priority to potential buyers, as the view counts were very steady week to week, then exactly at the 30 day mark I am not only getting no new views, but the old ones are going away.

Is it better to simply delete the og listing and relist it so the algorithm prioritizes your items for sale again instead of giving them a death sentence?

I have items that listed because I saw that they were selling...YET my auction listings are ending with no views!

If i am not mistaken, this is how i understand it.

If you relist, it should let your watchers know the item is on sale again. (watchlist) Keeps your info and Google indexing.

Choosing sell similar (of your ended listings, not someone else's) will begin a new listing. Old watchers will not be notified but you can reuse your listing pictures/details. Again, this is not to be confused with finding other user's listings and choosing sell similar. This applies to your listings.

A few months ago, eBay released an interview (podcast) suggesting for the first time that ending older listings and sell similar could help bring attention to those stagnant listings. YMMV

One of the biggest helps you can do is have consistent activity on your account. List daily and tweak older listings. (pictures, descriptions and Sell Similar relists) Some have said that using the end/sell similar technique is just showing activity on your account that increases your visibility. Who knows for sure.

Yes... that's why eBay makes the option to re-list or to "sell similar" available to sellers in the first place.

Now, whether the stagnation sets in at 30, 60 or 90 days is unclear, at least based on what I have read here over many months.

And keep in mind that by ending and then re-listing an item after 30 days, you may / may be removing it from Google's index.

Last year I sold an item that I had originally listed back in 2021... I had forgotten all about it. Then person who purchased it sent me a note telling me that she had been looking for the item (discontinued in the 1980s) for years in stores and in thrift shops and one day decided to look online and found my listing (the only one of is kind, in fact) via Google.

I end my listings after 60 days and relist as "sell similar."
