Is “Delivered” proof useless on eBay now?
If tracking shows Delivered, should that be final proof in Item Not Received cases?
Or should sellers still be held responsible for carrier errors, mis-scans, or wrong drop-offs?
Curious how others balance this with buyer protection and account safety.

·4 months agoAre you posting this because eBay is closing INRs in buyer's favor and charging you for the refund despite everything being done on-time & tracking showing delivery on USPS.com, but just not on eBay site because their tracking feature is broken? IF so, don't worry, I know where you are coming from.

·4 months agoIn my experience, INR cases are one of the easiest cases for the seller to win. Far more manageable than a INAD. If the package shows as delivered, not only have you won the case before it can even be opened, but you have the opportunity to show your buyer that you care about their situation by getting the tracking info for them, and recommend they check their cameras, or with their neighbors.
They can be mad at you if they want, but it's hardly your fault as the seller if you sent the item through a reputable post service, it was successfully delivered, and then it went missing on the buyer's watch.
Show concern for your buyers. Use tracking. Don't settle for the cheapest postal service possible; pick one that actually does a decent job most of the time, if you can help it.
...Of course, if you're dropshipping, you have much more to worry about than INRs.

Yes.

Yes.

Balance the two? What does that mean?

Have you actually seen the Ethiopian Bibles you've sold? All 5 buyers who left feedbacks claim they didn't get all 88 books as shown in the stock image and as described.
Instead of apologies, you should have refund ALL those buyers and stopped selling the books!
Based on what I see, I'm betting you have buyers who are really not getting their items and I foresee a shortlived ebay career.

Are you dropshipping? If so, how do you know whether it was correctly addressed and delivered?

·4 months agoI bought an item here and it showed delivered, but not to me. The PO was no help, at first, BUT the seller was a great guy and his girlfriend happened to be a postal inspector and after I told him what was going on and he got his girlfriend involved all of a sudden my PO became very helpful and found where my package was mistakenly delivered to and got it back and delivered it to me. It's sad they were too lazy to help out a customer until their behinds were on the hot seat from a postal inspector.

·4 months ago@dogofwar777 Wow you really got a lucky break there -what are the odds???!
EDIT: Now I want a postal inspector boyfriend. 🤣 Nowadays that would be more heroic than one who can fix the washing machine or replace the toilet (I've done both of those myself, thanks Youtube!)

·4 months agoIf you had delivery confirmation to the correct address that met eBay's requirements, and if you handled the case correctly by meeting eBay's requirements, you should have won.
If you do not have that, you do not qualify for seller protection.
Can you give more information about precisely what happened?

·4 months agoIs the OP the seller or the buyer in this case? If the buyer, don't open an "item not received" case if tracking shows delivered, if the seller enter the tracking number into the case when asked. But depending on what side of the fence you are on it may or may not be the final proof/factor or card played

·4 months agoIf tracking shows "Delivered", you should be OK. If the buyer thinks it was misdelivered, then he can take it up with USPS. If you're worried about negative feedback, eBay will most likely remove it if left.

·4 months agoAdvise the buyer to speak with their local postmaster. The post office can check the exact GPS coordinates of the delivery scan to see if it was dropped at the wrong house. If it was a carrier error, the local post office is usually responsible for retrieving it.
If you sent it to the correct address and you uploaded tracking and that tracking shows that the package was delivered you are not responsible.
But there is nothing wrong with helping your customer through the process of figuring out where the package may be.
