Is an item really paid and can I ship
I sold and item on 12/5 and had the [Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid] (aka autopay) button selected which allowed the buyer to have 7 days to pay for the item. Seven days pass and I get a message that You marked this item as "Payment Received" which I did not mark. The order details page says the buyer paid, but there is nothing under Processing on the seller hub. Nothing under On Hold but, eBay took their cut under available funds.
I never received an email stating the buyer paid. Seller Hub and order details both say ready to ship but the order details page doesn't look like it normally would.
When I try to cancel order, I get a blue banner stating:
The buyer has more time to shop with you and pay. You can choose "Buyer hasn’t paid" as a cancellation reason if the payment hasn't been processed by Dec 13, 2025. (today, 8 days after sale) Which adds to the confusion of whether this item was paid or not.
I'm inclined to not ship until I see the funds under processing on seller hub. Any advise on how to proceed?

OP7 months agoJust a follow up after speaking to the help line. The item was indeed not paid for.
Something in the eBay system incorrectly showed that I marked marked it as paid.
I was correct to question it when it was not showing under processing or available funds on the Transaction page. Shipping this item would have been a huge mistake. Now I still have to wait until tomorrow to cancel the order for non-payment.
Takeaway is that I have deselected the terribly named Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid (aka autopay). It overrides the 4 day auto cancel for non-payment and lets the buyer wait 7 days to pay. Thank you @ebooksdiva for explaining this in an earlier post.

·7 months agoWhy don't you check your payments page. It will show you what was actually received.

OP7 months agoIt is not showing up anywhere on the payment page, except for where eBay took out their fees under available funds.

·7 months agoYour settings allowed 7 days to pay so when 7 days passed and you didn't do otherwise, the payment is put through.
"The order details page says the buyer paid, but there is nothing under Processing on the seller hub."
The prepayment information was supplied prior to purchase/bid so there's nothing to process.
Buyer paid, you should ship.
I'm not sure why you're trying to cancel. Why take a ding to your account when the buyer purchased, paid and patiently waited a week for the item to be shipped?

OP7 months agoI'm not 100% convinced the buyer has paid. The message on the order details page states: You marked this item as "Payment Received" which I did not.
Looking at All Transactions, I cannot find anything that indicates this order was funded. If it were auto paid with no processing required, then wouldn't it show up under Available Funds?
Also I never did receive an email showing it was paid and ready to ship.
It is showing as ready to ship, but I believe that was triggered by me allegedly marking this item as paid.
From the message you received it sounds like the buyer hasn’t paid yet and since you have auto pay in place and probably combined shipping as well, your buyer has 7 days to pay. It’s something new eBay started.
Of course you don’t want to ship, the item hasn’t been paid for yet. Wait until you see the item in the Awaiting Shipment page.
