IPL and medical device policy
Hello!
I'm trying to sell a used IPL device I bought some time ago, and got a message saying it was considered a medical device and I was not allowed to list it. I know IPLs are considered medical devices, but eBay has a category for IPLs (Laser Hair Removal & IPL), and there are numerous listings for the same product I have. I know they could have "worked around it" somehow, but considering the category is IPLs, I'm not sure why listing IPLs would be considered against the rules?
Is there some kind of special seller situation you need to have to be able to list this item? I've saved my listing for later, just in case I'm missing something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thanks!

·2 years agoNever relist an item that was taken down, even if an eBay CSR later tells you that you can. You can lose your account permanently for relisting a pulled item, even if someone from eBay tells you that it is ok to relist it. (It might be picked up by the system later and automatically sanction you with no human intervention.)
The IPL/laser category is probably intended for home/consumer devices (very low power... and often of questionable effectiveness...), and someone (or an eBay bot/AI/whatever) might have thought your item was a professional device used in clinics (that could do serious damage to someone if used improperly) and are only sold to medical professionals. (The difference in price and physical size of a home vs. professional unit should be a really, really big giveaway, but who knows...)
Regardless of whether it was a home/consumer device or not though... don't relist it!

Keep in mind that just because you see it listed elsewhere on eBay, doesn’t mean it is safe to list. Some may be violating he same tenet as your removed listing. Or eBay may not have caught up with them yet. Or they have permission to list. It is difficult to know.
I also would not risk relisting a pulled item. The liability is too great. Multiple violations of the same rule can get one’s selling privileges suspended.

Probably due to the fact that some people could have an elevated risk on using this product. The use of certain medications such as anticoagulants could cause harm to user ( excessive bleeding).
And your selling a used procedural product, that's a big fat no. Please keep it for yourself.

·2 years agoYes, those sellers have been authorized to sell, and may need some type of licensing to do so. I would never sell anything medical here unless that was my full-time business and I was carrying liability insurance.

If eBay tells you it's prohibited to sell here, my best advice would be not to try to list it again. You may need to be a licensed vendor and esthetician devices could be one of them.
