International shipping hub
Good morning, I recently started shipping international with the eBay program. My first question, is California an official eBay hub? Second question, I live in Ohio and thought my packages should go to Illinois, why are they going all the way to California at a much higher shipping rate? TYIA

·1 year agoEIS does use California as one of their international shipping hubs. Everything depends on the actual end-country of your parcel.

If it is past the expected delivery date provided by eBay when you placed the order simply open an INR claim in eBay.

·3 years agoI've been monitoring this since my accounts were moved into the EIS program and it appears that the EIS shipping hub eBay has sellers send items to is based on the location of the buyer/which of the hubs is closest to the buyer. Items going to Mexico & Australia went to the California hub while items going to Canada & the U.K. went to the Illinois hub.

Pretty much what I stated. As to how that algorithm works is anybody's guess. I am on the east coast and almost all of mine go to the IL hub regardless of the buyer location but most of my packages to ground advantage or ground advantage cubic to the hub. Not sure if I used priority mail if that would change things for the Asian buyers and the packages would go to the CA hub.

·3 years agoI see you DO charge for domestic shipping, but not sure if you do calculated or flat rate shipping. If it is calculated, you should be covered by what the buyer pays for the USA leg of the order...

·3 years agoI would guess the reason your packages are going to the CA hub as opposed to the IL hub may have something to do with the international leg and where the buyer is located. No idea how the EIS logic works but if the buyer is in Asia it would seem to make sense to get it to the west coast for the international leg. If they are in Europe IL may be the logical spot. Really doesn't make a lot of difference but your packages probably would get to CA as fast if not faster than they would to the IL hub. Air transport to CA as opposed to ground to IL at least for Priority items. Ground advantage, who really knows if the packages actually go ground transport all the way.

But almost all my international go to IL. ðŸ˜
