International Shipping and FVF Question.....

On most of my listings I offer 4 domestic choices (All Calculated in order of cost)....
Ground Advantage
Priority
Priority Flat
Express Mail (Next Day)
I thought this was factual, but I checked the last few international sales (I generally use Pirateship Simple Export Rate for International) and my Final Value Fees were determined by Priority Mail Rates (not the cheaper Ground Advantage). and one of them even chose Large Flat Rate Box for some reason when Ground Advantage would be a lot less.
So, my question is, is the statement in bold accurate?

·2 years agoWell the easiest way to fix that would be to stop offering different tiers of shipping. All doing that does is tie your hands when you go to ship things and reduces your profits.
Offering different shipping options can also make you show up incorrectly more expensive when customers search by price + shipping lowest first as it can default to a more expensive shipping option there if you have your shipping rules set up poorly.

·2 years agoI don't check each and every international transaction but when I do check, I'm being charged for the domestic rate, however, I only have one domestic option since they can't charge for a more expensive one. But they are supposed to figure it out based on the lowest domestic rate to your own zip code.

I have looked back a few months...these calculations seem to have started when the 15.999 rule went out (1 lb is no longer 15.999)...I have changed most of the affected listings to 15 ounces to get the proper postage (they all had 1 lb 0 ounces and actually weigh between 14.5 ounces and 15.80 ounces) but were calculated at the 1+ rate as of a few months ago....
the lowest domestic rate to my zip code on my listing example was 6.90 (a modest handling charge is on there)...the rate in the example is Priority Mail i think

·2 years agoMaybe you should be asking if the information provided by eBay is accurate.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody forgot that there might be a bit of recoding required of the FVF calculation on international sales when USPS switched from First Class Parcel to Ground Advantage.
